that's great! I've had princess for almost 3 years now, and bob's been
with me for 5 months. princess wants absolutely nothing to do with bob.
she spends almost all her time down celler (he's afraid to go down) so
that's where she gets her peace. but he can also be quite rough, so i'm
hoping that when he matures some, that they'll become buddies.

| | Very funny, Gary! Not everyone has a Mother Emma at home!!

Maybe there's some hope for Honey and Julie. I've given up any hope
that my boys will ever tolerate Meg, but Julie shows some promise of
getting along with the boys. Honey and Meg actually slept in the same
bed last night....separated by me....oh, well...

Our oldest cat, Smudge, has only recently begun to accept
our two little bluepoint females. The three Siamese eat,
sleep, and play together, while Smudge remains standoffish.
Still, she shows signs of getting used to them - will give
them little licks occasionally, and allow them to sleep on
the same bed (a couple of feet apart) :^} She will even
play-fight with them on occasion, which is a distinct
improvement from hissing and head-bopping which went on
over three months! She'll never be as close to them as
they are to each other, though - but then, that's just
the way she is - and we love her anyway.

| | Oscar and Portia have been together since birth, so we've never
had any problem with the 2 of them. However, when we got Elmo,
on the first trip to the vet, my vet was astonished that I tried
to introduce another cat into Portia's house (the vet knows Portia
quite well). In fact, my vet said that if Portia ever snuggles
up to Elmo, that he would refund me all the money I have paid him
for vet bills. Oscar and Elmo will now snuggle up together - took
about a month at first. And, Elmo has these 2 permanent scratches
on his nose from where Portia is always bopping him one. He runs
and hides when he sees her coming.

My vet said that Elmo is going to be a big cat. I'm just waiting
for that day so that maybe Elmo could put Portia in her place for
    a change.

    	-Nancy

PS Congratulations on Schnapps and Tequila. I'm waiting for that
    day for Portia and Elmo

I had Chammie (lyxn point) for 3 years before I adopted Carmel (calico)
and Chammie *hated* Carmel very much. but I sat Chammie down and
had a good Mom to Cat talk and explained to her I adopted Carmel
for her and she (chammie) should appreciate it. From that day on
Chammie and Carmel eat, sleep, play and clean one anther! :-)

It's great isn't it? I got Punjab in May of last year, and it's
only been in the past few weeks that she and Dubbers have been playing
together & sleeping together. Imagine my suprise when Dubbers walked
up to her while she was sleeping and started licking her face and
ears ! Of course, it could have a lot to do with the fact that
neither of them have been outside since November.....
    Whatever works !

Fluffy has always been the queen of our household, and it's a riot
to see her with the other two cats. At first she hated Norman, but
after only one month, they were almost buddies. Then I brought Cloud
into the house (a year later) and all Fluffy did was hiss at him.

Now, exept for when Cloud is being overly playful and annoying both
Norman and Fluffy, they all get along. Norman and Fluffy both groom
Cloud and each other (and me on occasion) and they all cuddle together
on my bed--it's a twin bed--one of us is always falling off!

| | Tasha joined us only 2 months ago, and it took a while for TJ to
just tolerate her. Now, however, they've become quite close - maybe
a little TOO close. Let's just say these two have been caught in
some VERY compromising positions - I'm sure the next thing I'll
find is TJ smoking a cigarette "apres you-know-what"!

Both of them have been fixed - but I'm still surprised at the amount
of sexual activity going on....I thought fixing them really limits
their "desire". Maybe they don't realize the futility of their
efforts - or maybe they just don't care!! :')

Anyone else have experiences like this?

Yup, I've got that problem at the moment too. They certainly pick
their moments as well - when elderly neighbours call round. When
my mother came over to tea last week they met her at the front door
    "a deux" so to speak.

Although both mine were neutered last year I understand it takes
a while for their hormones to settle down - how long depends on
the cat. Apart from the embarrasment all you really need to worry
about is that the Tom may become nasty from frustration. We had
this problem with Tarot for a while though it seems to have settled
down now. I understand that the vet can give additional hormone
shots to settle the problem (not certain about this). Tarot was
also spraying round the house and was being a bit savage with Isis
(my female), not to mention scratching us.

Since it is now the mating season I should talk to your vet if it
really becomes a problem. Once consolation - they stop in the winter
    :-)

    Kate
