    There is a delightful children's book called Cats Know Best by Colin
    Eisler, illustrated by Lesley Anne Ivory.  The text is uninteresting
    but the illustrations  are wonderful, very pretty very detailed
    and full of pussycats drawn with all the pussycat nuances just right.
    According to the front of the book, most of the cats pictured are
    the illustrator's.  If I counted correctly, 17 are mentioned.  (What
    number is E.T. at?)

    Hi Karen!
    
    The book sounds wonderful.  I am only up to 16 & holding.  But,
    the last 3 weeks I have had overnight guests - my frien's furnace
    pooped out and I have had her 17 cats, a rabbit, and a dog visiting.
    That makes 33 cats in all.  Probably about 17 more than I could
    ever want or need.  It's been an experience!  The humm of the vacuum
    can be heard hourly!  Most of her cats are longhairs!!!!!!!

    Ok Elaine,   How do you keep track of 33 cats??   How do you manage
    to walk around without stepping on paws or tails???  Are you ready
    to move out yet???   How do your babies like the dog???  This must
    be costing you a fortune in kitty food.
    
    What a sweet lady you are to take in all these animals.  Are you
    practicing before you open your own shelter???

    1.  They keep very good track of us.
    2.  Guess that the house is large enough for walking without hurting
        tails & paws.  We look before we walk!
    3.  Nope, they will be going home later on this week, so I won't
        have to run away from home yet!
    4.  Most of them didn't mind the dog - he has been raised with cats
        and he thinks he is a cat - he grooms his own cats, so it's
        not a problem.  Although, Katenka isn't quite convinced yet.
        She sort of skirts around him when he is sleeping in the middle
        of the floor with her nose in sniffing position and paws poised
        to hit the road to down town Candia if he wakes up!  She is
        a VERY curious kitty, and that gets the best of her every time.
        She goes right up to him (asleep, not awake) and sniffs. Fun
        to watch.
    5.  I'm going to buy stock in Old Mother Hubbard !
