2128.0. "Cardiomyopathy vs lungworm" by USEM::JOHNSON () Tue Jan 10 1989 11:25

Cocoa's scheduled for his EKG and chest x-rays on the 19th. Just
spoke with Dr. LeVan and told her about our feline notesfile and
said I'd bet my life that Cocoa has lungworm and that we had
discussed cardiomyopathy. She laughed and said nothing is more
dangerous than 2nd year med students diagnosing. I laughed to myself
and remembered how many times I had looked at a Medical dictionary
and how many *diseases* I had.

She said she might have to eat her words but opted for the
cardiomyopathy and that lungworm is very rare in this country.
I don't know which would be the worst.

    EKG - $35
    Chest x-ray - $30
    all-day-stay - $8

GOD -- I forgot the MOST important news. Cocoa's blood sugar is
89; his BUN is 28 and has gone from 7 lbs to 8. ISN'T THAT GREAT!!

    Love you all

    Bj

Welll, my Pashenka had lungworm when I first got him! Dr. Brody
gave hime some stuff & cleared it up. From he said, it's not
    a common illness.

I would be interested to know if it turns out to be lungworm. That
is usually only found down south and is carried by mules. My friend
ended up rushing her horse to Rochester, N.Y. because he could hardly
breath. It ended up to be lung worm. I hope it is not something
that we will have to start worrying about in this area.

Cloud had lungworm when I first got him. He was given drops for
it, and I have to bring him in this week for them to test and find
out if it's gone. He's still having a hard time breathing, so I
kind of doubt it, but we'll find out for sure soon.
