2107.0. "Coming to see British kittieland..." by HILLST::MASON (Explaining is not understanding) Mon Jan 02 1989 10:25

    I know this is a tad off the beaten path, but I am going to be in
    Britain (YAHOO!!) for two weeks around the end of April, 1989.
    We will be going the full length of England and Scotland, with a
    dip into Wales. We wish to integrate as best we can, and so intend
    to use B&Bs to a great extent.

    I would appreciate it very much if anyone in those respective locales
    could make specific recommendations as to B&Bs, inns, restaurants,
    etc., as well as walking tours (unescorted), etc. Any other hints
    would be welcome as well. I have lived in Europe twice for a total
    of about five years, so I know the basics (ugly American, etc.).

    Please reply by mail to HILLST::MASON if you can contribute, so
    that I can keep this "felineless" interruption to a minimum.

    Thanks a lot...Gary

    Hi Gary- just wondering if you are planning to visit the Isle of
    Man?
2107.2Cats aren't REALLY specifically on the agenda...HILLST::MASONExplaining is not understandingMon Jan 02 1989 15:0514
    Unfortunately no. We were originally intending to spend most of
    the time in Scotland, but decided that as much as I think I'll like
    the whole island, we had better make it more widespread. On looking
    at the BTA book of the land (250 Tours...), we have selected what
    we think is a good sample for a first go, but we are hitting no islands
    (Man, Skye, Orkney, Wight, Shetland, Scilly, Hebrides, etc.). It
    is amazing how short two weeks seems when you start getting down
    to details. I am hoping that we can find an area or two that we
    really like, and concentrate on them the next time, including their
    "local" islands.

2107.3This one's worth a tryMVSUPP::SYSTEMDave Carr 845-2317Thu Jan 05 1989 13:0510
Gary,

I recommend you try the Great_Britain notesfile for this query. You may also
find some of the material in there useful/helpful.
The conference is TRUCKS::GREAT_BRITAIN (or 45466::GREAT_BRITAIN if your system
doesn't know the node).

I hope you have a good visit!
