2089.0. "Bil*Jac Cat Food" by WITNES::MACONE (Round Up the Usual Suspects) Tue Dec 27 1988 09:19
WHen I was in a pet shop buying all sorts of Christmas treats on
Friday, the owner gave me a sample of some cat food called Bil*Jac.
It is dry food, comes jsut like the IAMS sample size. It says on
the box "Developed by the makers of Bil*Jac Fresh Frozen Cat Food."
Well, I've never heard of the frozen stuff either. I mentioned
to the store owner that I use IAMS, and he said that this Bil*Jac
is better than IAMS. FWIW, this pet shop sells both IAMS and Science
Diet.
A nutritional analysis shows the following:
IAMS Bil*Jac
Crude Protein, not less than 32.0% 31.0%
Crude Fat, not less than 21.0% 18.0%
Crude Fiber, not more than 3.0% 3.5%
Moisture, not more than 10.0% 10.0%
Ash, not more than 6.5% 6.5%
Well, I tried giving the stuff to Portia, Oscar and Elmo. They
wouldn't eat it, even though the guy at the pet shop told me to
put the Bil*Jac in a dish, and the IAMS in a dish, and see which
the cats ate first. I think Elmo and Oscar may have actually tried
it though. Then again, my cats are the last to make judgements
- it took almost a month before I could get them to eat IAMS, and
after a month of trying Science Diet Light, I quit trying since
Portia threatened to call the MSPCA on me ;'} At least, I won't
have to worry about making special trips to the pet store for cat
food. . .

2089.1 | give me Iams or give me death... | ERLANG::LEVESQUE | I fish, therefore I am... | Tue Dec 27 1988 13:04 | 7 |
| Ever since we started using Iams, the cats will eat nothing but
Iams. They used to *love* canned food, now not only will they not
touch it, they try to bury it like it's $#!^. They used to love
table scraps. They rarely eat them now. It's pretty much Iams or
nothing at this point. I wonder what's in it that they like so much.

2089.2 | C/D Lovers! | FDCV13::JOHNSON | | Wed Dec 28 1988 08:17 | 5 |
| I can say the same for C/D. My babies *LOVE* it. Next
week is Cocoa's fasting blood chem ... keep your fingers
crossed for him. If his blood sugar hasn't lowered he'll
have to go on K/D.
