Good morning everybody .. IMPORTANT!! Last night Cocoa was clawing at his mouth like something was caught. I pulled out a hook (not the hook that holds the ball on the Christmas tree) that goes into the ball. I almost died when I saw how these beautiful ornaments were made. I keep imagining a small baby crawling around putting something like this into their mouth, leave alone our furfaces. I guess if we want to let our babes play with Christmas balls we have to remove all the danger. No kidding .. this hook looked like a whale harpoon .. very stiff.... and VERY dangerous. BJ

I neglected to add that this hook came out of the velvet balls. The regular balls don't have these.

You might watch out in case the place in his mouth gets infected. Maybe a phone call to the vet to ask if he should be on preventative antibiotics for awhile?

It seemed to ONLY be caught in his teeth. Seems ok. He let me look and I saw no blood or red spot. I took 5 of the velvet balls that were near the bottom of the tree and pulled out all hooks, layed them on the lower branches so he'd still feel he was doing something bad. Got to stay one step ahead of him. This year we didn't use any tinsel. Good idea, I guess, since reading other notes. Bj |
