Have another question!!!!! Why would the vet stress the Cocoa's litter box be emptied each and EVERY day? All new litter! Does it have something to do with the kidney malfunction and of what value would totally clean litter have? Pretty soon I'll be so-o-o-o-o smart I can answer *your* questions. BJ

I had to do that once when Honey had 'poopie' problems. Anything that comes out of the body had germs in it. The kidneys are supposed to clean up blood and dump the 'waste products' into the urine. When the kidneys are stressed or infected, they dump lots more bacteria and other swell stuff into the urine. Cleaning the box every 20 minutes (that's what it feels like!!) gets rid of the bacteria before it has a chance to grow and re-infect the cat. To make it a bit eaier on you, perhaps you should try something like the Tidy Cat box liners. Everything gets tossed and it minimize the amount of scrubbing and disinfecting you've got to do. Also, buy the cheapest litter you can find. The high-price stuff has deodorants and the like it in that you won't need since it will get changed so often. Isn't it amazing the new skills and knowledge we get from our kitties??? Mary

Hey, learn something new every day! You'll also know real fast if he stops using the box, in which case you'd call the vet immediately. Good luck. Nancy DC
2049.3 | Generic Trash Bags | WITNES::MACONE | It's the story of a man named Brady | Fri Dec 09 1988 15:11 | 3 |
Don't bother with the tidy box cat linerrs. Buy generic trash bags instead. It's alot cheaper, expecially if you are cchanging them every day. |
