Hi Nancy! It's Elmo's old Mom! Glad to hear he's doing so well. I've been using the Science Diet Light Maintenance exclusively since I was able to buy it at Erikson's in Acton. All six of my cats have taken to it with no problem. They eat only this brand as dry food and I supplement with canned Science Diet CD because one of the bunch has had FUD and the vet said he has to be on this kind of food for the rest of his life. Since he steals food from all of the others (when given the chance) I figured it was easier and healthier if I just switched the whole crew to the same thing. They do eat scraps as supplements and that is it! Two of the six have lost weight from this new diet, which is good, as they were too plump. I am very satisfied with the Science Diet line and recommmend it. The only problem is the cost. It is very expensive. I have found a place in Chelmsford that sells the CD for the cheapest price I've found in the greater Maynard area- 96 cents a can or $22.95 a case. Has anyone out their in Cat Land found a lower price in the Boston area? Marilyn

Hi Marilyn, Elmo sends his well wishes to you and the "old" family. Elmo had also been saying that he wanted to come visit you, but now that he knows you are Science Diet he changed his mind. My what a picky eater he has become. -Nancy

I paid $24.50 for a case of Feline Growth at Pet Potpourri, in Amherst, NH. Since the Growth is usually a dollar or two more than the Maintenance, I'd guess their prices on the Maintenance are comparable. They do charge 5% extra for credit cards on food purchases. There's no service charge for cash or personal checks. This seemed reasonable to me, since even with the 5% charge, they were still cheaper than Food for Pets, down the road. The $24.50 above is before the 5% surcharge got added. Where is the place in Chelmsford? At times, Chelmsford is more convenient for me than Amherst. Gary

Erickson's Grain Store in Maynard/Acton still sells it for $22. some odd cents plus tax. They've run out of it many times and I had to buy it at the Fish Nook in Acton for $30. + tax!!

The Chelmsford Pet Center is on Summer Street in a small shopping center across the street from the Purity Supreme. The store is open from 10 A.M. - 7 P.M. which makes it great for us "working" folks. They also have a great assortment of cat goodies and other foods. Try it! Marilyn
1978.5 | How much?? | CAM2::HOWARD | Tue Nov 22 1988 19:56 | 8
I used to buy Science Diet at Erikson's, but they charge $1.10 a can, or $26.40 a case, not $22!! The place in Chelmsford charged me $22.80 last night (Plus tax). Check your slip from Erikson's. Marilyn |
