1932.0. "A Phantom cat lives with us." by IOSG::CORMAN () Wed Nov 02 1988 09:57
Hi, this is Barbara from note 1811, the one searching tearfully
for her lost Eleanor. Since Eleanor's been found, I thought I
could move on to happier topics in this notesfile.
Here in our large rented house in the U.K., we have a phantom
cat living with us part time. "Phantom", whom we've never met,
likes to come in frequently and sit on our dining room chairs.
She comes in the cat door, and whenever anyone comes home,
makes a quiet, frantic streak from the dining room through
the kitchen and out the cat door. It's usual after dark that
we come home, so by the time we realise Phantom's been around,
(we hear the cat door clank and see long cat hair on the
chairs again) it's too late to get a good look at her (him).
I think this is halarious. I think we are safe to assume that
Phantom is not a stray, since there are lots of cats in the
neighborhood that have loving homes and simply go visiting
all the time. For example, "Bounce" from next door lives
with us 50% of the time. She sleeps over, takes all the
petting she can handle, than goes home next door for
breakfast or dinner. It's actually nice of her to share
the house with us, since we moved in after she did!
I hope we can get to know Phantom like we do Bounce. However,
Phantom seems to like her privacy as much as she likes
our house.
Tickled pink,
Barbara
