Help!! Our new landlord wants us to get rid of 2 of our four cats. He will not allow anymore than 2. I called city hall and asked if he could do this and he can. Our city has a law for no more than 2 cats. Now comes the dilemma!!! Who goes and who stays. I do not want to put these cats down. I would like to place the two of them together, but if that is not possible will separate them. Now about the cats: Sebastian -- she is 5 years old and really small. She is a tiger cat with an overall grey color except her tummy which is more light brown than grey. This one is a musher. She is timid at first, but once she gets to know you she is very affectionate. She has short hair and is very easy to keep clean. She is spayed and is an indoor cat who uses the box faithfully. She will go out in a group. I'm not so sure she would go out by herself. I got her from an animal shelter as a kitten and would hate to have her go back to one. Vanessa -- she is 3 years old and is also small. She is a grey angora with long fur and a great tail. Vanessa is very friendly, but doesn't like to be held for long periods of time. She is really a character. We call her Miss Priss because she prances around like she is the queen. She too is spayed and is and indoor cat who also uses the box faithfully. She is very clean and loves to be brushed. She will go outside if given the chance. This one I also got from an animal shelter at 6 months. Again, I don't want to have her go back to a shelter. Both of these cats are located in Medford. As I said before, I would love to see them go as a pair, but if that isn't possible then they will have to go separately. Both cats are used to dogs and children. You can reach me at dtn 296-3054 or home 617-395-9060 or send mail to GIAMEM::MACKINNON Thanks, Michele

These people that make up these totally absurd rules about how many pets you can have ought to be hung by the *&^% at dawn! Why should these towns and landlords and condo assocs. be allowed to contribute to an already crisis situation with too many homeless animals. In my last apartment (thank God I have a house!!!), I simply paid a little extra security deposit to cover any damages. The only thing that happened was my eldest cat had urinary problems and would occassionally pee-pee in the wrong spot. I had to do a little extra cleaning when I left, but that was no problem since we had wonderful wood floors. I'd ask if I were you , maybe he'd be human and consider an extra security payment or something. I mean really, CATS, what do CATS do to bother anybody, especially HOUSEcats.! If not, I do know someone looking for 2 gray cats, but they must have their complete series of FELV shots as there is leukemia in the household. Well, good luck! Denise

I totally agree with .1 about asking to pay a little extra security deposit. It doesn't seem fair since you already have the cats. By the way where does the town get off telling people how many pets they can have. Glad I don't live in that town I'd probably be thrown out with the 6 cats and 3 dogs that I have, and hopefully next year get a horse or two. Keep us posted if things change or you have to find a home for two of your kids. Cindy and her gang

Well, it took us some time to acomplish, but Vanessa has taken up residence in the suburbs/rural area. She is now Top Cat at my place, putting Copernicus (Copy) in his place when he gets uppity. Copy has been an only cat-in-the-house for 3 years and is taking to the situation with some reservations, as you would expect. She's got a lot of Maine Coon blood in her - the tufted ears, the profile, the short hair over the front shoulders, the britches on the rear, etc. They'll make a good pair when Copy settles down. Now, to find a home for Sebastian - see note 2166. - Chris |
