1869.0. "Low, Low, Cost Spaying" by SALEM::DOUGLAS () Fri Oct 14 1988 09:59

    Here's some info on low cost spaying. Spread this around!

                      N. H. SPAYING AND ALTERING SERVICE
                               8 Hutchins street
                               Concord N.H. 03301
                               Tel# 603-228-1929

    Certificate prices:

    Female dog ..... $39.00
    Male dog ....... $28.00
    Female cat ..... $28.00
    Male cat ....... $16.00

    Call the number above, they will send you an application. Fill out the
    application and return it with your check. They will send you a
    certificate for spaying at a participating clinic (within N.H)
    located near you. May or may not be your regular clinic. Not all
    clinics participate in the low cost spaying program.

    The certificate covers anesthesia, overnite stay, surgery, and stitch
    removal. It -does not- cover any preventative shots (such as rabies,
    distemper, lukemia etc...).

    ** certificate not valid for cats that will be de-clawed **

    Regards, Tina

    I just called. It is not just a certificate. It is a program that
    you go into. If you disagree with *the woman* in any way, you are
    not accepted.

    I will continue with my own Vet at a higher cost. Each person has
    their own feelings about their cats and what is best for them.

1869.2can you elaborate on the details?VAXWRK::SKALTSISDebFri Oct 14 1988 13:126
    what do you mean by "a program that you go into"? What are the
    "conditions" for acceptance? (I know that KH Spay in Waltham
    "qualifies" applicants meaning that they consider financial need).

    Re:2

    As far as I know, the only "condition" is that cats cannot be de-clawed
    while at the clinic being spayed. You don't have to be in financial
    need to "qualify". All that was asked was do I need financial
    assistance?, and I said yes and wasn't questioned further. I have
    2 dogs and 2 cats to spay and this program will help me keep the
    cost of spaying 4 animals down.

    Re: 1

    Please elaborate more. Sounds like you and *the woman* didn't see
    eye to eye on issues?

1869.4REPLY TO .2AIMHI::OFFENFri Oct 14 1988 13:3615
    I don't know the extent of her program but she answered the phone
    very brusquely. I said I had heard of her program and would like
    an application. She asked if I needed financial aid. I said I
    understood this was for low-cost spaying and that I had a female
    cat that I would like to have spayed. She said if you want into
    my program you will have to live by my rules. I said I didn't
    want to *get into a program*, I just wanted to get my baby spayed.

    If you need more info, I suggest you try calling the number. Maybe
    I just got her at a bad time. I still am going to stay with my
    Vet. Maybe you will have better luck.
