1828.0. "I need your help......" by DRFIX::IVES () Wed Oct 05 1988 11:14

    I am in need of a no-kill shelter in the area of Nashua.

    Could I suggest to the moderators that a file with all the
    no-kill shelters be put under one note. Right now they are
    scattered all through the notes file it seems, or I don't
    know how to do a search properly.

    Last Sunday we picked up a kitten in my sister neighborhood.
    He came to her deck while we were visiting. He was still there
    some 8 hours later and starving. When we were ready to go home
    it was raining and he was now cold, wet and hungry at this
    point. We bought him home for food and shelter for the night
    and Tim went back with the kitten and canvased the neighborhood.
    No one claimed him. He left our telephone number with some of
    the people, no calls.

    I thought maybe we would keep him as a companion to Mocha but
    the age and weigh difference it just TOO great. The kitten is
    about 4-5 months old, not sure of sex, all black, (could pass
    for a burmese) copper colored eyes. Has a purr that sounds like
    a 747 jet engine. He has slept with us since Sunday night and
    has used the litter box each time he needed to.

    Once again I will repeat the vital information -

    ALL BLACK KITTEN (approx. 4-5 months old) has the stature of
    a burmese. Pointed face, long body, long legs, and the S tail
    when he walks.

    Sex: not sure.

    Please help me find a home for this little doll.

    Thanks,
    Barbara

    He sounds like a wonderful baby. Are you sure he and Mocha can't
    adjust to each other?

1828.2Could it be a Bombay?TOKLAS::FELDMANPDS, our next successWed Oct 05 1988 17:078
    The description sounds like a Bombay. If so, you might want to
    see if there are any local breeders who could either help with placing
    it or identify the owner.

    Instead of advertising for a free kitten, you might want to advertise
    "Rare, exotic cat, only $50" :-)

1828.3another happy ending !!!!DRFIX::IVESTue Oct 11 1988 14:4114
    I wanted to post a happy ending to this note.

    I had two replys to this note. The first person to see the kitten
    decided to take the little doll with the copper eyes.

    Thanks for your interest.

    (I did read a description of a Bombay and he sure fits the bill.)
    His eyes are so stunning. His new owner said I may visit him any
    time I would like.

    We did it again noters. Another one snatched off the streets.

1828.4Off he goes.....DRFIX::IVESThu Oct 13 1988 12:489
    One more update on Mandu - He had his FelV test done and it was
    negative, so he goes to his new loving home today.

    Thanks Linda Gogolin for adopting this "street animal" who is
    going to grow into one gorgeous cat.

    (She has promised I can visit and she will take pictures.)

1828.5I need The-Inn-Is_Full lessons!BCSE::GOGOLINThu Oct 13 1988 16:0213
    Guess I am too slow today -- Barbara has already let the cat out of
    the bag (ha, ha).

    I was waiting to hear the result of this little guy's feline leukemia
    test before making the adoption announcement. I went to see him last
    week, and he is the cutest thing -- very playful and lively. He seemed
    to get along very well with Barbara's Mocha (and vice versa). I think
    he will be a nice addition to my feline family; the headcount will now
    be at 5.

    E.T., when do your The-Inn-Is-Full classes start?

    Linda
1828.6Congratulations!TOPDOC::TRACHMANE.T.'s ZhivagoCats....DTN: 264-8298Fri Oct 14 1988 10:5015
    Linda, I am not a very good teacher/example! You will go to heaven
    for Sweetheart and any others you take in. I just read your
    previous note - my Malinka is similar - all I can think of is
    a little 4 lb baby living her first year out in the cold with
    no where to go - when I brought her home in May, she too was
    quiet - boy, how things change over the months! I smile EVERY
    time I think of her, laugh every time I cuddle her, and am
    thrilled every time SHE COMES to me for a pat or a cuddle, which
    is so much more often these days! Just think, she will be giving
    me all that for lots of years to come. We are VERY LUCKY!

    Lesson I: keep being greedy - if you touch him you own him - then
               then take him home and love him.
