| My mom's cat, Be-Bee has dry skin. I don't know if Be-Bee has dandruff
per say, but the dry skin was making Be-Bee's hair fall out. The
vet prescribed cod liver oil in Beeb's food, and also gave an
antibiotic so that Beeb's won't scratch while the dry skin heals.
Also, Be-Bee's skin was flaky looking, but not flaky enough to fall
out and mess up the carpet or anything.

| I should also add that the vet also said that we should switch to
Oil packed tuna, and give the tuna juice to Be-Bee. Unfortunately
we only like Chunk Light Tuna in Natural Spring Water.

| You could try bathing the cat in Selsin Blue shampoo - it worked
for my Timothy (all black). Or, pick up some Linetone and use it
in their food - mix it with the canned - it's good for all your
cats if they eat out of the same bowl.

You can try checking notes 27 and 571 to see what others have said about
dandruff.
I had always heard that one can give a cat a teaspoon of unsaturated oil
on a weekly basis if they have dandruff. I heard this from the woman
who sometimes grooms my cats. Daisy has terrible dandruff, but hates
anything oily or fatty - I can't even get her to eat chicken or turkey
grease. So we just live with it - can't really do much else.

| I started using Linatone and there is a noticeable difference in
Chauncey and Nikki's (especially Nikki's) coat. Their fur is much
silkier and shinier and the dryness is gone.
I mix one teaspoon into each of their bowls (1/2 can each) once
a day.
Both of my cats have long hair.
Can't hurt...

I have been feeding my cats cod liver oil for the past 8 years, and nobody
has found it toxic yet. The note in CANINE said that it contains a very
large amount of Vitamin A, and that it therefore CAN be toxic if overdone.
I find that the cod liver oil, or Linatone, really does help their coats;
Linatone has the correct dosage on the bottle, I use the same amount of
cod liver oil. Give it a try, but check out the measurements (figured by
weight of the cat, different if for kittens).

with an eye dropper, that don't like it when I put it in their food.
They seem to like that method better, one squirt and it over with.

| Or you can order Linatone through Cherrybrook, a wholesale catalog
in New Jersey. I think I pay around $2.95 for an 8 oz. bottle,
about half of what pet supply stores are charging.
The toll free # is 800-524-0820. Specify you want Linatone FOR
CATS, as there are several different types.

I've three longhairs. Previous to using Linatone they all had
dandruff rather badly. Since I've used Linatone their fur is silky
and their skin in soft and dandruff free.
Great stuff!

I don't know what it is, could be Linatone, but when Sophie
stared showing signs of flaking I brought her in to the vet, and
she gave her something for it. It came in a dropper bottle.
Sophie has beautiful long black hair, and what ever the doctor
gave her, it works great. Her hair is much more shiny, and the
flakes are gone.
I go to Central Animal Hospital in Leominster, and the Doctors
there are great. If ever I have a question about my cats ( I have
5 ) I give them a call.
I should note that Sophie did not go there specifically
because of the flakes, she was there for her check-up and I brought
it up to the Doctor then.
Hope this helps

1801.14 | She doesn't like it | SQUEKE::WARD | I leave Trouble behind | Tue Oct 04 1988 09:14 | 13 |
| Ok all you people out there with cats that like this stuff (Lineatone
that is). How did you get your cats to like it. Trouble won't
take it. I've tried mixing it in her canned food, and she just
left it to get hard and ate dry, which she only eats when nothing
else if available. I tried giving it to her as a treat - I got
this look only a cat can give (you know, the one that makes you
feel like apologizing for living). Since I paid $5.something for
the bottle and I know it will help, I really would like for her
to use it. Any suggestions welcome.

Lucky for me they love the stuff, although the dogs eats so fast I
don't think they really taste any of it!
No idea what to do with a cat that doesn't like it, mine never complain
about what's in the dish... they know that if they don't eat it, one
of their brothers or sisters will!

Is Lineatone a liquid or a paste? If the latter, the old sneak
up on em and dab it on a paw should work.

Wouldn't smearing stuff on their paw on a regular basis encourage the

RE: .14
When I first got the Linatone my cats presented me with the same
problem your cats are having Bernice. They really didn't like the
stuff on their food. So, using an eye dropper I'd give them the
recommended dosage orally and they'd promptly go off and find some
nice spot on a rug to throw it all up.
So...
Every morning the cats are each given a teaspoon treat of
Strained Chicken Baby Food. I decided to try mixing a few squirts
of the Linatone with the baby food, and presto, it works. That
is the only way they'll take it is in the baby food, not their regular
food. The stuff has worked so well it's worth it to keep buying
the baby food.

| Well, I've tried perseverence, but I'm wearing down. I tried the
baby food - she liked it the first day, but has refused it ever
since. I even tried the eye dropper bit, but she won't have anything
to do with that. Actually, as far as eating goes, Trouble has always
been different from any other cat I've had. She doesn't care if
there's food down or not. I have noticed a difference in her fur
(smoother & silkier) the times I have managed to get her to take
Linatone. Oh well, I guess I'll just keep trying.

| Re: ?
I read somewhere (in this notesfile I believe) that feeding the
oil from canned tuna is not a good idea. I can't remember the name
of the condition but it can lead to a disease. Maybe some of the
other notes can point us to the right topic.
I have used Linatone and it has made a very nice difference in my
Birmans coats. I recently discovered something even better tho.
After Joui weaned her last litter she was in really awful shape.
Poor coat texture, no appetite, heavy shedding. The vet gave me
a product made by Norden called Miscellized EFA for her coat and
Petdrops for her health. In three weeks she looked terrific. She
has looked terrific ever since. I swear by the EFA!
