1797.0. "New R.I. residents..." by SKIVT::P_MARGOLIS (Paula Beth) Tue Sep 27 1988 13:31

    I finally am going to be with my fiance! I got a job in Shrewsbury
    and will be moving from my home in Burlington sometime around the
    end of October. Now that I'm going to be so close, maybe I can
    finallly meet some of you.

    Anyway, I am a really lonesome "cat Mom" right now. I thought it
    best to make the kitties "disappear" while I am trying to sell,
    so my dear little furfaces are at my fiance's in Cranston, R.I.
    They would have had to make the long commute shortly anyway. Steve
    says they're doing wonderfully. But I miss them so. It's kind
    of lonely opening the front door and having noone to greet you after
    a long day. And I even miss them waking me up for a cuddle in the
    middle of the night!

    Well, thanks for letting me talk. I knew you'd all understand.

1797.1WAAAA!!! I miss my boys!!CLUSTA::TAMIRACMS design while-u-waitTue Sep 27 1988 14:2811
    Hi PB,

    Boy, do I know how you feel! I travel *alot* and the worse part
    (other than airline food) is that I miss my boys like crazy. It's
    really hard now that I've got the 5 little ones and Meg, too, cause
    I enjoy playing with them all. During the winter, I've always got
    Chauncey snuggled up beside me and Honey at the foot of the bed,
    and even tho' they wake me up occasionally, it's nice falling back
    to sleep to the sound of purrs...

    I understand - I complain about the bed being too full with
    15 of them, but when one is not home (at a vet) it's like
    the house is empty!

    When I sold my previous home, the realtor that the kitties made
    the place seem more homey, and that that could help sell the place.

1797.4A Feature of the House?SKIVT::P_MARGOLISPaula BethWed Sep 28 1988 12:0512
    Deb,

    Interesting comment by your realtor. How did it work?

    I know many people who are allergic to cats (or think they are ;'))
    who wouldn't even think of buying the place if they saw cats. Others
    will be weary of cathairs or possible droppings on the carpet.

    It's so easy to keep the place clean now. No litter tracking and
    no cathairs on the carpets. I think it's all for the best.

    BUT I MISS THEM!
1797.5If the house is immaculate, it's a feature!EDUC8::TRACHMANE.T.'s ZhivagoCats....DTN: 264-8298Wed Sep 28 1988 12:3512
    When I sold my house in Westford, MA, the only stipulation was that
    EVERY time they showed the house I HAD TO BE THERE. I never hid
    the cats - at that time I only had 6 !! Most of them took off for
    parts unknown - but a few of them could be seen. It was no problem
    at all ever. Most people like cats - they knew that I would be
    taking them with me and the house was VERY clean - almost everyone
    that looked at the house played with the kitties that would let
    them.

    I, too, think it is a feature!

    the place went on the market on a Tuesday and I by Saturday I had 3
    offers (one full price, one for $1500 over my asking price). As
    it turns out, it sold it to a person very allergic to cats, and
    as a condition of sale I had to have it steam cleaned after I moved
    my stuff out (Sears did it for $97).
