1745.0. "want to adopt a kitten" by FSTVAX::WIMMER () Wed Sep 07 1988 13:55

    I'll be looking to adopt a kitten October 1. The reason for the
    specific date is that I have two dogs (see note 1721). I'll be
    moving September 30 and I think the best time to introduce the kitten
    will be right after moving so that the dogs have not had time to
    establish "territory". So....I would like to find a kitten old
    enough to deal with the dogs, of reaonable size, and preferably,
    accustomed to seeing and/or interacting with dogs. I live in
    Newburyport, Ma and work in Bedford.

    Thanks,
    Diane

    I would suggest you adopt from the local animal shelter. Most cats
    and kittens there are neutered and immunized for free before adoption,
    and you would be saving several lives (usually they are killed after
    10 days at a shelter).

    Good luck -

    I would like to adopt from the shelter, however, that may be a problem.
     I spoke to someone at the Northeast Animal Shelter who told me
    they would not allow me to adopt a kitten because I had dogs who
    had not lived with a cat previously.

    Gosh, you might want to adopt a cat or kitten (or both) from this
    notes file. There seems to be so many that need homes!

1745.5Can you wait??CLUSTA::TAMIRACMS design while-u-waitThu Sep 08 1988 13:4410
    Well, now, if you wanna wait until the end of October, I just happen
    to have 4 little babies that will be ready to go to homes. But,
    like Edd, I'd lie like a rug.

    Remember that shelters are looking for permanent placements; it
    doesn't do much good to place a kitten only to get it back because
    of a doggy dispute. I can understand their position...

    re .3 I'd be very happy to adopt a kitten from this file. The only
    thing that is a little awkward is the specific date issue. I don't
    think it would work out as well if I get one, then promptly move
    everybody 2 weeks later, especially since this move is only for
    2 or 3 months anyway (I'm going into a rental until the place I'm
    buuying is completed). When I put the original note up, I was hoping
    that someone might have kittens ready to go at about that time.

    re .3 -- I thought about lying, but was told they sometimes do followup
    checking?

1745.7I have a kitten for you!!CASV01::HEADBERGThu Sep 15 1988 06:108

    Are you still looking for a kitten?? I have a nice black and white
    kitten that I am trying to find a home for. She is 2 1/2 months
    old now. We have a dog also, so she is use to being around a dog.
    This kitten is the last one left from a litter of 4. We took in
    a stray cat, which had kittens shortly afterwards. We are keeping
    the mother cat but would like to find a home for all the kittens.
