1674.0. "A Cat's Tail..." by MARRHQ::KORCHNAK () Wed Aug 17 1988 15:39

I went to a cat show last weekend in Arlington, VA and decided that
my cats didn't have enough cat toys, that they needed MORE! So,
I saw this product called "Cat-a-sizer" that is basically what alot
of people have described -- alot like a Kitty Tease.

ANYHOW, Shanti and Charlie LOVED it! Especially Shanti! As a matter
of fact she got so wrapped up into it, that she literally got wrapped
up in it! The string wrapped around her tail, and the next time
I see the toy and the cat, they're flying around the living room,
hissing at Charlie with every flying pass! My husband ran in and
caught the lamp just in time, and I'm trying to catch her as things
    fly EVERYWHERE!

Finally, it slipped off her tail, and there sat on the couch a cat
that had every hair on her body standing on end! I went over to
reassure her, and she's like "What was that? Is it going to get
me again? It's ALIVE! I know it is!"

And after 5 minutes, she was happy as could be.

And the man said that the toy wouldn't break -- well, it didn't,
but the stick sure got a beating! As WELL As poor Shanti!

    HA!

I know the look all too well. When I was in field service we wore
antistatic wrist bands that were connected to grould via a coiled
cord (like a phone cord but much thinner). On one end was an
    alligator clip.

I used to swing the cord around at home for aja to play with. Once,
I clamped the clip to the fur on her tail. (Lightly!) She wiggled,
the cord wiggled. She moved, it moved. She ran, it chased her!!
She ran faster!!!! It kept right up!!!

After about 10 seconds it fell off. I was rolling by then...

My kitties don't even need toys to have fun.................

I have recently discovered that my kitties like to chase a beam
of light and it is soooooooooo funny because they will never be
able to catch it - poor things will never understand but they keep
    on coming back for more.

In fact, just this morning I was loading the dishwasher and the
sunlight reflected off of my watch and Buttons went bananas ! !
! ! ! So, I needless to say, began to play with her too letting
the light go back and forth around the kitchen while Buttons chased
it absoultely determined that she was going to catch this thing.

This never fails to crack both me and my husband up!!

HEY! Another Buttons! My childhood cat was named Buttons!

All of my kitties do the same thing. It is SO funny! We've used
a flashlight and played with them, too. What a riot!

My mothers cat, Be-Bee, also loves to chase light. My parents have
a big angle bay window in the front of the house. The morning sun
shines through nicely in the morning. Mom has 5 or 6 prisms hanging
in the window which make millions of little rainbows around the
room. Mom will walk by the window in the morning and tap each prism
to make a million dancing rainbows on the walls. Be-Bee goes nuts
trying to catch the rainbows that are dancing on the walls, ceilings
and floors. It's the funniest sight to watch.

This reminds me of a party I went to, many years ago. The friend
giving the party had recently taken in a stray kitten, only a few
months old. He also had one of these revolving mirrored globes, with a
spot light that shines on the globe, causing reflected light spots to
revolve around the room. Needless to say, the kitten had a ton
of fun, chasing these spots all over the place.
