| With seven cats (at the moment) I don't waste time with 16 oz bottles!
I have been buying in 32 oz (I think) and buy several at a time.
I also get a discount from the feed store since I buy most of my
cat food there (in 50lb bags!) and some medications and stuff.
I will check tonight on the price.

I think that is very reasonable. How much is it out in your

The price on a 32 oz bottle of Natures Miracle at Nashua Aquarium & Pet
Center is $6.99. I only shop there if I'm desperate since their prices
are comparatively high. I would like to find some mail order place
that might save me a few bucks on some of the products I use. Thanks
for the info.

1627.6 | | CIRCUS::KOLLING | Karen, Sweetie, & Holly; in Calif. | Wed Sep 07 1988 17:36 | 21 |
| I tried Nature's Miracle last week, with mixed results. I would
be interested to hear from other users if I did something wrong.
I tried it in two situations:
Holly had urinated on the bed awhile back. At the time, I dumped
some rubbing alcohol over the area, and that removed most of the
odor. However, I'd still get a whiff of the smell if I happened
to sleep with my face right in that place, even through the mattress
protector(sic) and sheet. Last week I saturated the area with NM,
and waited for it to dry. The directions do say that the odor won't
disappear until things are completely dry. It took a couple of
days for the mattress to feel dry, and that was 3 or 4 days ago.
I am assuming the inside has dryed by now. The state of things
is exactly as before I used the NM, except instead of a whiff of
urine smell you get a whiff of the NM smell, which is not pleasant,
once the citrus overtones have worn off.
Where it did work was, I saturated some newly washed sneakers, let
them sit for a couple of hours, then rewashed them. No smell.
So maybe NM is only appropriate for things that can be washed?
|
1627.7 | I have always had good luck with it | JULIET::CORDESBRO_JO | | Wed Sep 07 1988 19:07 | 15 |
| I usually let it sit for awhile and then blot it up with paper towels.
I haven't had a chance to use it on any old stains since our house
is fairly new and the cats have been good. Maybe it doesn't work
as well on old stains.
This past weekend, Kalliste urinated on one of the mats in the backseat
of my (new!) car. He is a whole male so the scent was very strong.
It took several applications but the odor and stain did disappear
(cream interior).
I agree that it does work very well on things that can be washed.
Try blotting it up on the mattress and see if that helps. The stuff
does get kinda stinky when it is working (all those enzymes at work).

| I just talked to the company on the phone, and they say it can take,
worst case, 2- 3 weeks for the mattress to dry, at which point the
odor should be gone. I tend to believe this incredible sounding
time estimate since the top took so long to dry. So, we'll see.

| I actually tried a hair dryer on day one and a half. It took forever
to dry the top and then a few hours later I noticed the top was
wet again, presumably because the moisture had soaked up from the
inside. This is really weird stuff in terms of staying wet. I
think progress is being made though, becuase I can get closer to
it without smelling the NM today than I could yesterday.

telephone yesterday. He informed me that they are just starting
to market a powdered form of Nature's Miracle. You mix 2 tablespoons
of the powder per pound of cat litter, an presto, no urine smell
from the litter box!
I'll be getting some soon and will post the results. I've three
indoor kitties who have volunteered to test the powder to the max!

| RE: .16
Please correct me if I'm wrong but ammonia is the LAST thing you
want to use on urine. The prime smell component of urine is ammonia.
As a matter of fact if you have a rug you'd like your cat to piss
on just sprinkle it with ammonia.
As a matter of fact take a whiff of ammonia, verrrrrrrrry gently
since it'll burn your nose out, and then take a whiff of the litter
box. Somewhat the same, eh?
Rather than ammonia are you thinking of vinegar?
Joe
|
1627.18 | | KERNEL::JWILLIAMS | | Thu Sep 29 1988 05:16 | 10 |
| Well, this is what I thought when the person told me about it.
But I tried it last night and it seemed to cancel out the smell
after a while. I think it must have some deordorising agent in
it that freshens linen and material. In fact, it even says on the
bottle that you can use it diluted in your wash to freshen your
clothes.
Seems a bit ironic to me but it also seems to work.

I picked up some of the Natures Miracle Powdered Form and added
it to the litter boxes. This stuff is great! It has practically
eliminated completely the urine odor from the boxes! I say
"practically" since I'm experimenting with using less than they
advise on the container. The stuff is not cheap, but boy does it
work!

I ordered a quart of Natures Miracle from the Animal City catalog
in California. They were very prompt in their shipment. I haven't
tried it yet but my mom has and already used up her quart (in less
than 2 weeks) and is now borrowing mine. Anyway, I don't have the
number for Animal City handy, but can post it tomorrow if you'd
like.

| Animal City: (619) 453-7845.
Please note that it probably isn't worth it to order just the Nature's
Miracle since there is a freight charge of $3.50 for all orders
under $50.00. An order that costs $50.00 and up has no freight
charge attached. I ordered a few things so I felt as if I was getting
a bargain on the N.M., but if that's all you order, you're not really
saving any money.
Here's the scoop:
A quart of Natures Miracle is $4.75. A gallon is $14.59. They
also have Natures Miracle Pet Mess Clean-up, 12 oz. costs $4.39.
The order number for a quart of N.M. is 945002. A gallon is 945004.
The pet mess clean-up is 945001.
If you want to buy in bulk, 12 or more quart sizes of N.M. will cost
you $2.95 each. 12 or more of the pet mess clean-up is $3.95 each.
Hope this information is helpful.

Deb
|
1627.28 | The facts (I hope) | FSHQA2::RWAXMAN | | Thu Oct 06 1988 16:18 | 15 |
| According to the catalog:
The pet mess clean-up consists of absorbent, spongy, flakes made
to clean and absorb liquidy messes such as urine feces, and vomit.
The flakes are supposed to absorb the liquidy mess, turning it into
a relatively dry material you remove off carpets and floors either
by vacuuming up or sweeping into a dustpan.
The Natures Miracle liquid is used to remove odors and stains that
have already set, like smoke, perspiration, food, and urine.
Hope this clarifies.
