1622.0. "LOVING STRAY NEEDS A HOME" by CPRS::CAISSIE () Fri Aug 05 1988 09:26

    Two days ago, I began feeding a stray. I can't keep it myself,
    and I really hate to take it to the animal shelter but will do so
    if I can't find anyone to take this cat by the end of next week.

    The cat is white with small shadings of gray. I don't know if it's
    male or female. The cat is obviously hungry because it wolfs down
    the food I'm giving it, and I can clearly see the outline of it's
    backbone and rib cage. Sweetheart (that's what I've been calling
    it) also seems to have something wrong with one eye (I can see a
    slight discharge). Sweetheart is very loving, though. When I first
    saw it, Sweetheart immediately came to me and rubbed up against
    my legs repeatedly and allowed me to pet her/him, meowing all the
    while. Sweetheart wears no collar (flea or otherwise), so she/he
    is probably abandoned.

    If I could take in this cat, I would, but I'd get thrown out of
    my apartment if I tried it. The cat's in Worcester, but I'm willing
    to drive him to a home a reasonable distance away (anyplace in MA,
    NH, ??).

    Any kind hearted feline noters out there willing to take this loveable
    ball of fur? It would really make my day if I could get her/him
    to a good home instead of the shelter.

1622.1No kill shelter info, in case..DRFIX::IVESFri Aug 05 1988 15:4615
    NO KILL ANIMAL SHELTER I saw an ad for this on channel 4 after
    evening magazine the last two nights. They were asking for voluntees
    to help out at the shelter but showed pictures of some of the animals
    that were for adoption and pictures of inside the shelter.

    The telephone area code was 508 and the next 3 numbers were 745
    and I did not get the next 4 numbers. The info I gave you at least
    would let you know the area of Mass it's in and the town. Isn't
    that the new area code for around Littleton?

    This is just for information sake for anyone who needs it.

    I hope you find a home for this kitty.

1622.4Northeast Animal ShelterBRAHMS::ROBBINSMon Aug 08 1988 11:0810
    Re: .1

    I think the shelter you're referring to is the Northeast Animal
    Shelter, which (as .3 mentioned) is in Salem, MA.

    Believe it ot not, this shelter is open from 9AM to 9 PM
    (or something like that)!

    Their phone number is (508) 745-9888.

1622.5Sweetheart Seems To Have Found A Home!SOFBAS::CAISSIETue Aug 16 1988 10:2010
    I'm happy to report that Sweetheart has wormed her/his way into
    the shelter of a neighbor's cellar. Apparently one of my neighbor's
    cellar windows is missing glass, and Sweetheart found her/his way
    in. The neighbors discovered Sweetheart in their cellar, and much
    to my surprise, didn't kick her/him out, but are feeding her/him.
    The outline of Sweetheart's ribs are no longer visible, and Sweetheart,
    when I saw her lounging on a cellar windowsill this morning, looks
    happy, content, well-fed, and confident in that way that only a
    cat can look.
