1611.0. "My new bag of bones" by SNOC01::COUTTS (Brilliance is just a sideline...) Tue Aug 02 1988 22:27
About three months ago, my boyfriend, who works in a factory
environment noticed a fat grey cat. Nothing unusual you may say,
but it looked just like Stranger, a blue burmese we lost last year.
I was working ridiculously long hours on the Australian Taxation
Bid and Andrew was eating out a lot. I guess he just got p*ssed
off and left cause we were never there.
Anyway, this fat grey cat turned out to be a pregnant female cat
and gave birth to two lovely little greys. Andrew tried, unfortunately
unsuccessfully, to catch them all. Someone told him about 4 weeks
ago that the mother had been taken away by the cat catcher (even
though he asked to be told and said he would take her and kittens).
About two weeks ago, another worker told them they found one of
the kittens dead in among the pallets. Andrew was more than a little
upset (this is odd behaviour for a man who hated cats when he first
met me and WalksFar).
On Monday, he arrived home with a rather foul smelling box, and
told me it was breakfast for the other bubs (Venom, Sirocco and
Effy). Still puzzled, he opened the box, and there was this adorable
little bag of bones - all eyes, bones, hiss and hellfire. It didn't
take her long to respond to affection though! She was starving.
Andrew found her asleep in a drain, and said that she put up the
fight of her life. I guess this took a lot out of her, because once
in the box, he said she just slumped.
We've got oodles of TLC for her, and I think this confuses her a
little after all the abuse she has probably copped trying to be
caught. She even had a bath without too much trouble
We call her Shai (pronounced Shy). This was the Egyptian god/godess
of Destiny and we thought the sound of the name and the meaning
was appropriate.
Wish us luck

| We certainly wish you luck. She sounds delightful. I'mm so pleased
that at least the story had a happy ending for one of the cats.
Congratulations on your new kitten, I'm sure she won't be a bag
of bones for long.
