| Himmies are wonderful kitties...I've got two, one seal point and
one cream point. A seal point is a very rich dark brown whereas
a blue point is a bluish grey color.
As for breeding, I'll suggest you look thru this notesfile for the
experiences of others, but it's not something that you can dabble
in. Other noters will tell you it's NOT a money making business.
Breeders who are serious about their cats do breeding to improve
the line, and to produce kittens who can pass on these incredible
genes to future generations. Unless you've got a champion on your
hands (which means you paid an incredible amount for a 'show quality'
cat, like more than $500), you might wish to reconsider.
One of our fellow noters has the most magnificant cat I've ever
seen. He's the 1985-6 All-American Cat of the Year and the highest
point scorer in CFF history (hey, Cin, he's your basic cat, eh?!).
Although he's retired to a life of wine, woman, and song, I don't
think Cin Gerry is quite ready to retire on his income!!
But most of all, welcome aboard and welcome to Lulu (oh, those blue
eyes!).

| RE: .1
I agree, Fire is Georgeous. But he is a persian, not a himalayan.
Cin would be a good person for you to talk to about breeding. Like
Mary said, you can't go into it for the money. Just to improve
the quality of the breed.
As for the CFA papers, what they are looking for is the name of
the cattery you got Lulu from. Like my Silver is "Fogmagic's Sterling
Silver" and Micki is "Suttonian's Michaela." Your cat's registered
name would be "(cattery)'s Lulu". Understand?
As for shows, give me a call and I can give you some information
on all kinds of shows in the area. I'm at DTN 273-5402.
Hope this helps.

| Gee, I thought the name "Stoneystream" sounded familiar! That's
Mary Stenstrom's cattery. Her beautiful male, Alex, recently passed
away. Mary's kittens are really gorgeous and have wonderful
dispositions. Two of my neph-cats, Olijah and Geoffrey, are from
Mary's cattery. Olijah is a blue, Geoffrey is a seal. Judging
from your lineage, I'd guess that Lulu is a blue. Did Lulu come
from Mary or is she one of Mary's 'grandkids'?
If you're really serious about attempting to breed, I think you
should talk with Mary. If Lulu is a grandkitty, I'm sure Mary would
love to see her. You can reach her at (617) 486-8183.

1594.6 | Showing and Breeding is hard work | IAMOK::GERRY | Go Ahead, make me PURRRR... | Thu Jul 28 1988 15:05 | 12 |
| I think Amie was looking for contests that can be won that would
get her picture somewhere. That doesn't usually happen when you
win in a cat show!!! When you win in a cat show, you sometimes
get lots of nice ribbons or rosettes, and points if your adding
them up.
As far as breeding, well, I think I have said more than my share
as to how I feel.

| Oh yeah, I forgot to put in the last note.....
Mary,
This year CFF's best cat beat Fire's score, so he is no longer the
highest scoring cat in CFF. Of course, they changed the scoring
system last year, so all the cats had the ability to score more
points. The scoring was:
1st 100 pts
2nd 90 pts
3rd 80 pts....etc.
This year it was like this:
1st 100 pts
2nd 95 pts
3rd 90 pts
So, anyway, I told Fire he was no longer the highest scoring CFF
cat. I don't think he really cared one way or the other, he knows
his mom still thinks he's the best!!!
Since 1986-7 was the last year for Cats Magazine All American Awards,
Fire is, and always will be the highest scoring All American Cat!!!
just clarifying

1594.8 | #1 in my book! | CLUSTA::TAMIR | ACMS design while-u-wait | Thu Jul 28 1988 15:59 | 9 |
| Hey, if they changed the rules, then Fire is still the best! It
really fries me when they do things like that...like Jim Brown was
the best running back of all time. OJ Simpson goes and breaks his
record, but OJ does it in 15 games instead of 10, and OJ gets to
run against the NE Patriots instead of the Green Bay Packers. Hmph!
So, who's #1?? Great Balls of Fire!!! Boy, he's gorgeous....

record.
