| So...Edd...are you going to be The Organizer?
I would especially enjoy going with other FELINErs.
[Oops, that rather sounds like I would like to take a
box of expensive litter box liners, huh? Well, maybe
a CAT might need one!]
Any chance of organizing a Wednesday or Monday evening
performance if it is during the summer? I'll be getting
out of town most of the remaining weekends, and I guess
others might be doing that as well.

Since I work in Personnel, I will let you all in a scoop. Tickets
to CATS is going to be offered through the Employee Activites and
Recreation through DEC. The flyers should be in your sites this
week in the greater Maynard area. They are offering $40.00 Orchestra
seats for $36.00 for the night of August 26th (Fri). The deadline
to get your order in is 8/9.
See your local Employee Activities person in Personnel to get the
flyer.

| I just got my tickets! I asked the guy on the phone for the best
seats available on a Friday or Saturday night. He got me tickets
on August 12th, orchestra seats.
I didn't think I could get such good seats so late.

It seems like there are about four of us going on the 12th.
Anyone know where we could plan to meet? (at the theatre
somewhere would probably be best). I'll have pictures of
Rosie and Missy with me!!

| In response to 1562.4 and 1562.9 regarding seating:
When I went we had 2nd floor back seats (rear Mezzanine). It was
pretty good because we a had great view of the kalaidescope lighting,
but personally I don't do very well with heights. 2nd floor front
probably would have been better, though I would prefer orchestra
seats as there is limited audience participation.
It was a lot of fun! A visual feast!
Many of the characters reminded me of my own kids - especially Griselda
(?) the lead cat. That's my Thea!
I am hoping to go again . . . Is it too late to get better seats this
time?

1562.21 | Meeting on the 12th | WITNES::MACONE | | Fri Jul 29 1988 16:22 | 12 |
| Re. .18
Portia and Oscar have granted me permission to meet other FELINErs
at CATS, under the condition that I bring their pictures with me.
They requested that I order 8 x 10's, however this is one instance
when I am denying their request.
I've never been to the Shubert before so I don't know a good meeting
place there. Anybody else have any suggestions? What about you
Holly -- you seem good at organizing get togethers.

1562.22 | seating and meeting | HUMOR::EPPES | Make 'em laugh | Fri Jul 29 1988 20:29 | 20 |
| RE seating: There are "orchestra seats" and there are "orchestra
seats." The first time I saw CATS (the first time it was in Boston),
we had orchestra seats. However, they were under the mezzanine, which
rather limits what you can see -- not on the stage, I hasten to add,
but up in the boxes where some of the action takes place. Also, you
can't see the neat lighting and set decorations (?) up on the ceiling
and on the front of the mezzanine, although the last time I saw CATS
(the second time it was in Boston, last fall), the set wasn't as
elaborate (I guess because the show was around for a shorter period of
time). For that performance, we had front row mezzanine seats, which
were great! You can really see everything.
RE a place to meet: Although I'm not going (*this* time!), I'd suggest
meeting under the Shubert's marquee (i.e. on the sidewalk right in
front of the theatre). If you want to get more specific, you could
pick a spot on either side of the doors. I think the lobby area will
be quite crowded, which would make it difficult to find people.

1562.23 | possible extension | STOR06::DALEY | | Mon Aug 01 1988 18:16 | 5 |
| I read in yesterday's paper that CATS is prepared to stay
for an extended length of time (beyond August 27th) if there
is a demand for it.
My tickets are for August 5th (this Friday).

1562.24 | | SSMP20::DALEY | | Mon Aug 08 1988 13:16 | 5 |
| I went Friday - it was great. I let my 7 year old niece
sit on the aisle seat and she loved the interaction with
the audience by the cats.
I would love to go again before it leaves Boston.

1562.25 | You know who I am now! | IAMOK::HTAYLOR | Me and my lil' pots o' purrs | Mon Aug 15 1988 11:53 | 16 |
| Well, I went on Friday. It was FABULOUS!
Hey Suzanne, Nancy, whoever else went on Friday the 12th. I'm
sorry we couldn't get together, but all of you now know what I look
like. You see, I was sitting in the front row, center stage of
Orchestra section. Remember when Rum Tum Tugger (the cool cat)
came down into the audience? Remember the woman he was dancing
with? She had on a gray skirt and a white blouse with a silver
cat on the front. Well, needless to say, that was me. We danced
up and down the aisle and when he brought me back to my seat he
looked at me and said, "How about a hugsky?"
It was the best show I have seen in a long time.

1562.26 | | WITNES::MACONE | | Mon Aug 15 1988 12:54 | 13 |
| Holly,
I'm so jealous. I had seats in the orchestra, but up in tha back
corner, so we didn't get much interaction with the CATS.
After Rum Tum Tugger danced with you, I started wimpering to my
boyfriend "Hon, I want to dance with a kitty cat." Needless to
say, I had t wait 'til I got home, and even then Oscar and Portia
wouldn't dance with me.
Otherwise, the show as great.

1562.27 | Wonderful Play! | NSG022::POIRIER | Suzanne | Tue Aug 16 1988 13:31 | 18 |
| Holly,
That is GREAT!!! What a riot! I thought that it was so funny
when he was dancing with you! Now how did you get those seats????!!!
We were in the orchestra, about 20 rows back, but center stage.
The view was great.
I also thought it was pretty funny when he made some woman's SO
leave his seat so he could sit with her.
Now wasn't that a wonderful show? I enjoyed it so much. And my
mother-in-law is such a sweet heart - we received a present on Friday
which contained the sound-track to CATS and T.S. Eliots book.
Wonderful play - I could see it again easily!
Suzanne
