Where did you buy the book. When I get another cat (female), I

| YES!
I'm hoping to get a kitten in August. I'd be interested in the
music topic. In the past I have had *Mick Jagger* *Billy Idol*
I helped name a friends *Sid Vicious* and *Johnny Rotten. I presently
have Sheena Easton! So I'd like to keep up the tradition!

1471.4 | Dignified name for a male cat | FSHQOA::RWAXMAN | | Fri Jun 17 1988 16:39 | 14 |
| Karen,
Can you print some L names for a male cat under the exotic breed
and Childrens names and Comics category. And any other categories
that list dignified names for a male cat (pesonality, physical
characteristics, etc.).
If this is too long to pubish, can you photocopy them? I am going
to try to find this book tomorrow at the local mall bookstore.
Thanks,
Roberta

1471.5 | Stage Names | USMRW2::KSHERMAN | Star Fleet Reserve | Fri Jun 17 1988 16:52 | 24 |
| Cats tend to name themselves, hence:
W.C. Cat (looks like W.C. Fields)
Pinney (has a pin head)
Ashley, aka Neco Ach De Dachi, the Snake (grey, long)
Lucas (was watching Star Wars when he showed up)
Big Beef Cheese Bumm (enormous, has 'tragic cat anal odor'
Meef (aka Continental, aka Moogey Beef, aka Sagan, etc.; this one
is tough to explain)
Baby Cakes (very small cat ~ 3.5 pounds)
Oreo (self-explanatory)
Puppy (disposition of)
H.C. (aka Hungry Cat, former stray who never got over having enough
to eat)
In fact, naming cats is half the fun. Of course, this creates the
problem of having to have "stage names" for them at vet if owner
is reticent about using real names. Hence, Pinney becomes "Cricket,"
etc.

1471.6 | more stage names | VIDEO::TEBAY | Natural phenomena invented to order | Fri Jun 17 1988 17:00 | 13 |
| The "stage names" idea made me laugh. I have always given my cats
at least two names. One is their "proper name" for the vets. The
other is usually a derivative of that but sometimes not.
The current crop-stages names by their common names
Penelope -Punky, Funky Punky
Lady -Ladybird, Ladybee
Maureen -Molly
Fiver _Fiver (There was no other name for this one-I think it
may be his true name)
Prince -Sketter

Bandit - Rabbit, Bunny, and Wabbit
T.K. - Teekee (he hates it!).
Booksmith is also located in the Bedford Mall (NH) and the
Mall of NH, in addition to the Pheasant Lane Mall so if any
of you want to go get yourselves copies and type in a page
or so here and there, great!!! Meanwhile, I'll try to type
in a page from time to time too.

I don't know. But whos gonna tell?? Besides, its not like I am
making any money off of it. And what is the difference between
what I am doing and photo-copying pages out of a book/magazine,
or recording a movie off HBO? None, as long as I don't profit,
right?!

| RE: .16 and .17
If we want to be technical, it's not an issue of whether you are
making a profit. It is an issue of you keeping the publishing company
from making an additional profit. By typing in lists of names into
the computer, technically people can get the list of names from
you and not go out and buy the book. Thus, you are decreasing the
publishing companies profits.
As you say, it's not any different from photocopying pages out of
a book or recording a movie off HBO -- but those activities are
mostly illegal too. Especially taping the movies.
It really comes down to the old expression though -- "It's only
illegal once you get caught!"
I'm sure nobody in this file is going to snicker, but let's just
hope some nasty FBI agents aren't reading this file!
-Nancy
P.S. I had a minor in Business Law in college, which is the only
reason I know this. I'm not the copyright police!

Unfortunately, you're likely to find there is no difference, as
the above mentioned activities are also violations of copyright
laws.
Profit isn't the deciding factor.

Well folks, I was already sick of typing in the names anyhow.
I am going to the mall tonight. If anybody wants a copy,
let me know before 4:45 and I'll pick them up one (provided
they are still there). Then, you can send me the check
for a whopping $1.99 and I can send the books, interoffice
mail.

P.S. Please let me know thru personal mail, not thru the
