1460.1 | The Boston Show is open until June 18th | EDUC8::TRACHMAN | | Tue Jun 14 1988 10:35 | 20 |
| Sure thing - you can still make the BOSTON show - the closing date
isn't until June 18th - I have entry forms here in my office if
you or anyone else would still like to enter - Sandy, stop by for
one if you would like to enter. This show is also
going to have an apparent purebred class of household pets. Lots
of fun for everyone. The July 4th (2nd & 3rd really) show is fun
- the hall is air cooled and quite comfortable, lots of vendors
so you can shop like crazy - lots of stuff to do at night including
the CFF POP awards banquet if you want to eat at the show hotel
the Park Plaza, which is accross the street from the show hall
the Park Plaza Castle. The fireworks are a few minutes walk from
the hotel and show hall.
The Entry Clerk is Beverly Hardacre - phone number: 617-688-6790.
Don't hesitate to give her a call - you can best reach her evenings
say, after 7pm.
Later on today, I will put in a note with a partial show calander
for the new season. I don't have all the flyers yet, but will
add to the note as I get them.

1460.2 | Congratulations on Black Thunder! | IAMOK::HTAYLOR | Have you hugged your kitty today? | Tue Jun 14 1988 11:00 | 15 |

Sandi,
It would be great if you came to the Boston Show. I'd really like
to meet Black Thunder. That way you can meet LB and Micki. Micki
won't be old enough to be shown, but LB is.
If I remember right, Black Thunder is a long hair, right? Make
sure you get the grooming tools you need first thing in the morning.
If you need any help, I am SURE that someone will be happy to help.
Right Elaine??? I'll help too if you want, but I am still a rookie
when it comes to longhaired cats.

| I am worse than a rookie with longhairs! Probably the world's worst.
BUT, there are plenty of folks at the show that would be more than
glad to help - household pet folks and breeders alike!
Cin, you have experience with long hair!! Are you showing in Boston?

1460.4 | HELP !!!!!!! | AIMHI::OFFEN | | Tue Jun 14 1988 12:54 | 16 |
| What tools. I know about the silver comb but what else do I need
and also what do you need for the cage?????? I'm worse than a rookie..
I've never shown. Now would Black Thunder be considered an apparant
Angora or apparant Persien. She doesn't have the pushed in face
but she definitely does have long, thick fur. How old do kittens
have to be. I think she was born around March 25th (I am trying
to get the definite date) and thought they had to be four months
old before you could show them. What do you use to bathe them and
make their coat shiny. Right now it is very silky but also very
dull (no highlights).
Help, help, help.....

1460.5 | Necessary equipment for a cat show | EDUC8::TRACHMAN | | Tue Jun 14 1988 13:38 | 79 |
| kittens must be 4 months old to be entered in a show. I hope she
was born earlier than March 25th - like around the 2nd or 3rd.
Otherwise, she is too young to show. Has she had all her distemper
shots?
Tools: a comb for long hairs
a brush for long hairs
Q-tips to clean ears & eyes
nail clippers (or do them at home)
coat spray (can be purchased at the show in the a.m.)
Chamos cloth (can be purchased at the show hall)
some kind of powder for neck area in case it gets greasy
Cages:
Single Cage: 22 high x 23 or 25 accross the back x
22 or 23 deep.
Double Cage: 22 high x 46 or 50 accross the back x
22 or 23 deep.
Towels or a 3-yard piece of material
45-wide folded length wise will work
and cover both sides and the back of
the cage. A bath towel will cover
the top or another piece of material
about 24 x 55 will work also. You
can also purchase cage curtains at
the show hall from Village Stitching Co.
A bath towel for the bottom of the cage
works - or another piece of material the
same size as the top will also work. You
can buy beds at the show hall if you want
to.
HHHP versus APHHP: You could call the entry clerk or check with
the previous owner to see what her parents were.
If you enter her in the HHP class and she is an
APHHP, they will transfer her during the show.
Food: You may want to bring her favorite canned food
or some jars of strained/junior baby food meat
chicken, turkey, beef - a very few folks use the
dinners - your choice. They are easy to feed
small cans with pop tops (Friskies).
The IAMS folks usually feed the cages with samples
of IAMS. You can bring a small ziplock bag
her favorite dry - sometimes small bowls are
provided - they can also be purchased at the
show hall. Plastic disposable spoons are handy
along with paper towels and maybe water from
home.
Litter: Litter and cardboard litter trays are provided
at the show hall.
Hotel supplies:
If you plan to stay overnight
at a hotel, you need to bring your own supplies
from home. Although, this show does have a
(usually) hospitality room in the show hotel
that provides litter and trays and small bowls.
You will need to bring food and a can opener
and spoons and a dust pan & brush or dust buster
to clean up after the furface!
Food/Drink for yourself for the show hall:
Most shows have food and beverages - if you
wish you can bring coolers/thermos/ etc.
Sure saves money - especially when the shows
are at large expensive hotels!! Your choice!
The bottom line is that you will end up taking half your house!
Right, Penn??????

1460.6 | UPDATE ON BLACK THUNDER | AIMHI::OFFEN | | Fri Jun 17 1988 16:02 | 28 |
| Black Thunder has just gone to the Vet and has been pronounced healthy
and female. She was such a love in the Vet's office. She purred
the whole time. It was funny watching the Vet try to listen to
the heartbeat. She finally got it. The only time she wasn't purring
is during and after her shot (poor baby..this one hurt.).
She is 3 months and 1 week old today and weighs 3.2 lbs. I didn't
even think she weighed that much.
As to how she is acting at home....Well, she has decided that
night-time is for play-time. She loves to wake me up every hour
on the hour. I have tried to give her a stuffed animal to play
with but that didn't work. I don't want to shut my bedroom door
because I like to know what is happening in the rest of the house.
She WILL learn that wake up time is 6:00 yet.
She uses the kitty box 98% of the time. She has used my couch (BRAT)
twice but I am working on that. I guess because Star used it a
few times the `aroma' is still there. I got something from the
vet to help kill the odor and hopefully stop her from doing it.
I will keep everyone informed as to the results. Any info how to
make the little sweet-pea sleep through the night??
