1425.0. "Cats/Kittens at Framingham Shelter" by SSMP20::DALEY () Fri Jun 03 1988 13:49

I was just recently informed that the Framingham Shelter may
have to stop- for a few days only - taking in animals (the shelter
will definately be open for adoptions) because all the walk-in cages
are full to capacity, as are the stack cages, all the foster homes,
and any spare cages at the vets. This happens every spring - new
kittens, dozens of them. And of course their moms - as well as good
ole boys too, are waiting for human parents.

So if you are looking for a kitten - the Fram. Humane has lots of them -
all colors and either sex. If you want a specific color - there
is probably one at either the shelter, the vet, or a foster home
to fit your bill. Don't forget the older ones they need a loving
home as well as the kittens.

All cats/kittens are FeLv tested, and have their distemper shot,
are wormed, are vet checked, and come with a spay/neuter certificate
for kittens). All older cats are neutered by the FHS before they
    are placed up for adoption.
                                 ------------
But don't forget little orange Robby who was mentioned in an earlier
note (ref. 1397). He apparently is still looking for a home too - and he
sounds like a sweetie. I don't personally know "Robby" but he sounds
like a good companion cat; like cat who loves people. I think Robby
must be very special. Don't forget him.
                                  ----------------
One more thing - if the FAHS does close up for a week or so, they
still will help hurt cats/kittens. And they also keep track of where
the strays are waiting, so that when space frees up again, these
needy cats/kittens can be brought in right away. Also there are volunteers
who go out and check on these strays each day to be sure they are
okay. And if they look in trouble, they get trapped and helped.
It's just that there are more kitties coming into the shelter than
are going out to homes at the moment. It will slow down later in
    the season.

(This is one reason the FAHS is working so hard to get a shelter
of its own. On the 15th if June the Humane society will go before
the Framingham Special Town Meeting and request some land be donated
on which the Society can build a new, larger capacity shelter.
    Hope it passes).

Note on Robby - Robby is not a FHS cat. He is living
with someone. If you are interested in a sweet-natured orange,
refer to the notes file. I was just taken by his description
and wanted to mention that he was still looking for a special human
    to come bring him home.
