1398.0. "How married life affects kitties" by MRESS::FEASE (Andrea Midtmoen Fease, newly married.) Mon May 23 1988 14:07
Just thought you guys would like to know how married life has
affected our boys!
The night before last, we went to bed and took Loki with us
(we are now *both* sleeping in my, oops our, room in a nice big
queen-size bed). Then Fluffy decided to join us. No problem, right?
Well Loki decided to eat and, after finishing his meal and going
to the bathroom, he tried to come back up on the bed. Hiss, scream,
growl, splat! Fluffy said "no way!". Woke both of us up. We kicked
Fluffy out (figuratively, never literally) and closed the door for
a few minutes, putting Loki on the bed with us. We then opened
the door and tried again. The whole night was snatches of sleep
between cat fights. Not fun, believe me!
Last night, for some reason, was completely different. Loki
came in with us while Fluff and Bigfoot were out in the back room
looking out the window. Loki ate, then came back on my pillow.
Fluffy came in and curled up between Howie and me at the end of
the bed. No confrontation. I heard Loki go to eat and said to
myself "Here comes a battle..." but, guess what? No battle. Woke
up in the middle of the night to find Loki on the pillow, Fluff
between us at the foot of the bed and Bigfoot between my legs at
the foot of the bed. Territorial establishment, perhaps? Cat "logic"?
What a nice night it was - no fights, plenty of sleep.
Who knows what'll happen tonight ... ? Two people and three
cats can be a bit of a tight squeeze ... ! Cats can sure be in-
teresting!
P.S. Oh, yes. Thanks for all the litterbox/litter-problem
suggestions. We now have two boxes, and Bigfoot doesn't seem to
be messing the bathroom rugs. No one has had an accident on the
bed yet, though we have a waterproof mattress cover to protect the
brand new mattress. So far, so good!

| RE: -1
Sounds like you need a king sized bed !

1398.2 | Nothing like having 3 chaperones! | ICEBOX::FEASE | Andrea Midtmoen Fease, newly married. | Wed May 25 1988 13:00 | 5 |
| Either that or an air conditioner! Two people and three cats
make for a lot of body heat, especially with the weather conditions
the past few nights!

1398.3 | 5 cats on the bed | 21002::RAYMOND | | Thu May 26 1988 16:51 | 4 |
| Try a queen-size bed and 5 cats--two of which are approximately
16 lbs. each!!! We have a turf problem occasionally, but just pick
up the troublemaker and move him to another spot and everyone goes
back to sleep.

1398.4 | 1 dog + 2 cats + 2 people = togetherness | STAR::BARTH | | Thu Jun 02 1988 18:11 | 7 |
| Or try a *LARGE* dog (30 inches tall at the shoulder, 80 pound
borzoi) + 2 cats on a standard full size bed with 2 people!
That's togetherness! ;-)
Ours each have their own spot, so don't battle (often).

| Finally a truce of sorts. Loki takes my pillow, Howie's pillow
or both of our pillows. Bigfoot takes the foot of the bed, either
on my side or between us. Fluffy sleeps on the dresser (we have
jeans, etc. so he has something soft to sleep on). Bigfoot and
Loki can tolerate each other; Fluffy and Loki can't.
