Yesterday, May 9th, I responded to an adoption note posted ( note
#1341 ) in this conference. After much coercing and convincing
and through many helpful suggestions in the replies to note #1311
entitled "Help me convince hubby" I finally did just that. Getting
him to the address was the toughest part. When he saw the three
sweet little faces peeking out from the sofa pillows --- it was
"the home stretch" so to speak - in fact he actually admitted to
having a flash of a desire to adopt ALL THREE! - He quickly gained
control! Anyway, we made our decision, a very difficult one, and
drove away with a new baby kitten. Once we arrived at home there
was the usual "confrontation" with our two year old beloved named
Yaddie. There was a bit of growling and hissing and i expect this
to continue through the week. The kitten will have her own room
for 2 or 3 days until they warm up a bit more...suggestions welcome!
I would like to thank Penny for providing me with kittens food
and pill, and her hospitality as well. The other two are precious
as well. I know these kittens come from a good home with lots of
love and I hope to see them placed in similar homes. Thanks Penny!
We love the little yeowser! It broke my fool heart to leave her
and come in to work today!
Take care cat lovers,
Nancy

Welcome to the new little furface!!! Thats absolutely great news!
I'm glad you finally were able to convince him, although it isn't
hard once they actually see a little kitten! I hope your new
little addition brings many happy years to you, your husband and
Yaddie.
Enjoy!

| 1348.2 | Leave them alone ? ? ? | CIVIC::WINBERG | Wed May 11 1988 15:37 | 6 | |
Althought I know no two cases are ever alike, when I acquired my
kitten, after introducing him to my cockerpoo (with the expected
confrontation), we left the two alone for the afternoon. Upon our
return, they'd become acquainted, and accepting of one another.
From my experience, the absence of the owners helps with the getting
acquainted phase.

| 1348.3 | two kittens in a bag! | VLS5::ALEXANDER | Fri May 13 1988 16:01 | 15 | |
YEs that sounds like a good idea....once when my Yaddie was small
( 12 weeks ) I was asked to take a girlfriends kitty for a weekend
who was 14 weeks. At first they didn't take at all and it seemed
never ending. My husband came up with the funniest idea! He put
them both in a brown paper bag! Rocky, the guest kitten came shooting
out of the bag -- it was one of the most hilarious scenes i ever
saw. She must hav jumped 4 feet - no exaggeration!!! After that
they seemed to accept eachother! but it was cute! I'd do the same
here, but Yaddie is a 10 pounder now....thanks for the suggestion
this could be the answer, because up to now I've separated them
unless were around. ( which is when most of the moaning/growling
occurs!!! )
