Some Easy Ways to Be Kind to Animals

May 1 through May 7 is "Be Kind to Animals Week" and the Associated
Humane Societies offers these 10 easy ways to make the lives of our
animal friends easier and more enjoyable.

o Prevent unwanted litters. Spay or neuter your pet.

o Make a donation to your favorite humane organization.

    o Adopt a homeless pet.

o Visit your local shelter with a gift of pet food; it's always
       needed.

o Bathe, brush, groom (maybe vacuum!) your pet for that little
extra special attention that she or he will love.

o Form an animal welfare club with interested local children and
become more aware of the many important issues involved.

o If not already done, make sure your pets are up to date on all
       vaccinations, heartworm checks, etc.

o Take your elderly relative or neighbor's pet for his or her routine
examination and shots if they have lapsed.

o Start a group to help senior citizens or needy pet owners take
good care of their pets. Collect pet food coupons and distribute
them; solicit funds to help defray the costs of vet exams and
       neutering, etc.

o Love your own pet! Make an extra effort to be extra good to
those who depend on you for everything all month long. You'll
       feel great.

Very nice, Cindy. Maybe we could rent a huge billboard in the
center of every city and print it there for the world to see
    and learn from!

Has anyone seen the "ad" for neutering which is currently on tv?
    I think it is sponsored by the MSPCA - anyway - it's a riot - it's
a spoof on the John Hancock insurance ads which shows a person and
then prints out their vital statistics.
