| Did you try calling the MSPCA, I believe that I once heard on a
radio program that they have a list of vets in the area that have
special programs for neutering/spaying.
I don't have a number for them I tried looking in the phone book
but didn't find a listing for them. Sorry!
Hope this helps...

| Ouch to your sisters pocketbook.
She should call all the vets in here area for prices. I also would
try the local Humane Society to see if they might have any referal
system. How about Angel Memorial or Tufts Vet School? I'm sure
she could find a vet who would work with her on a payment schedule.
They sure don't make it easy to neuter your pet.
Let us know how she makes out.

| Definitely call the MSPCA - I know that there is an organization
which will give coupons which subsidize neutering. I think it has
something to do with Rex Trailer (Boston children's tv personality)
but forget the details.

| There is an organization called Friends of Animals that my mom has
used for years. As I understand it, you write to the organization
and they send you a spay/neuter certificate at a special price.
Only thing is, you have to find a vet who will honor the certificate.
I'm sure most vets will.
I'll try to dig up the address tonight & post it tomorrow.

1305.5 | Shrewsbury Animal Hospital | MRESS::MIDTMOEN | Andrea and the Gang | Wed Apr 27 1988 09:35 | 13 |
| You can try the Shrewsbury Animal Hospital on South Street
in Shrewsbury (near SHR). I don't know how much they charge for
neutering/spaying (Loki was done in NYC; Bigfoot and Fluffy were
done elsewhere), but I've always had very good service from them
and feel very comfortable with them. Try to get Dr. Barnes if you
can - she's *very* good.
Their number is 845-7921; their hours are MTTh 7:00 AM - 7:30
PM, WF 7:00 AM - 5:30 PM and Sat 7:00 AM - 4:30 PM. They have 24-hr
emergency service too (doctor on call). Have never needed the emer-
gency service, but sure is nice to know.

1305.6 | Friends of Animals - Address | NAC::LACOUR | | Wed Apr 27 1988 09:53 | 19 |
| I used Friends of Animals 5 1/2 years ago on my boys. At that time,
a male cat cost about $15 to be fixed and the cost was normally
around $25. A female cost around $25 and that normal cost was around
$40. Now remember, this was a long time ago - I'm sure the costs
have gone up a little since then. I think, but am not sure, that
the MSPCA will neuter/spay a pet for whatever kind of donation you
can afford if you can't afford the normal price.
Anyway, I have an old address for Friends of Animals. I don't know
if they're still there, but who knows. Since I don't know the phone
number, you'll have to look it up with Information - they can probably
also tell you if FoA is still there or not.

| Buddy Dog Society on Rte 20 Sudbury provide you with a form and
names of vets that will give discount towards spaying/neutering
your animals. Just had my kitty spayed through this process, cost
was 29.00.
