| Pepper loves it, but that doesn't mean it's good for her of course.
I don't know what the ash/filler content is, but it looks fairly
meaty. It's the only other food she'll eat besides Fancy Feast
and Amore.

| Karamaneh, like any good Siamese, likes to drive her parents crazy.
The first time we bought Sheba, she adored (and nearly inhaled)
it. Now, she could care less.
Rule #1: Never try to predict the behavior of a cat. That goes
squared for Siamese.

| -1; when my neighbour attended to Omar while I was on holiday, she
decided to give him a real treat. So she prepared the favourite
food of all the cats she knew (she had a 7-cat household at that
time and she met *many* cats in her life): cooked fish.
Omar went to the plate, sniffed, backed out a bit, sniffed, looked
around him a bit doubted - and proceeded, a bit releived to the
plate with Whiskas.....
I think Omar and Chanel rate Whiskas and Sheba equal. I bought it
for a few weeks, but noticed it was not 'special' to them.
Occasionally, I give them heart - that results in two growling
predators....(though Omar'll look at me - 'Can you slice it in just
a little bit smaller chunks?').
I don't know about the health quality of Sheba though I think it'll
be ok.

Tasha Marie loves Sheeba(except for the one with liver in it) but
only gets it once in a while because of the cost. Actually it
probably works out better this way. She insists on having constant
variety with her food.

| I bought a can each for Charm and Niniane and they inhaled it.
(It would seem that the worse it smells, the better they like it.)
I give them canned food once a week for a "treat", they get IAMS
dry the rest of the time.
RE: Fish. My husband cooked up salmon steaks the other night
and gave some to each cat. Niniane inhaled it (Niniane
inhales rug fibers). Charm ignored it - until Niniane
started eating Charm's fish. Charm then became a raving
salmon fan (after clobbering Niniane with her paw).
Sigh, Siamese......

| I had a buy-one-get-one-free coupon so I figured what the heck.
The cats loved it. As I remember, it was made by Kal-Kan, and Kal-Kan
puts out one of the better foods.

Our cat, Kevin, turned his nose up at the 1st can of
Sheba we gave him. A few days later, when he was real
hungry, we tried the 2nd can on him and he kept a safe
distance from his dish and looked at us like "what are
you guys trying to do to me!"
He is not a finicky eater at all, but tends to like 9-lives
and Friskies (all low ash offerings, of course). Maybe
Ed and I lucked out and just have a "meat and potatoes" type
of buddy!

1230.8 | kitty cat food for verne and shirl | MILVAX::AQUILIA | | Fri Apr 01 1988 12:16 | 13 |
| like one of the reply's in here i also have a buy one get one free
coupon but heartland didn't carry it when i brought the coupon with
me so we decided to get kal-kan because it was on sale 4 for 89
cents, whata deal eh? but verne and shirl HATE it. usually whatever
kind i buy they will eat for a week and love it and then when i
stock up on that particular kind of food (always a variety) they
scratch the floor like crazy. my mom was telling me that i could
bring it back to them for something else but its such a far ride.
i think i'm sticking with kitty cat food. they don't have but 6
varieties and mostly chicken and fish, but thats what they like
and they always eat it, everytime. i've never seen the cat food
for more than 4 for a dollar. cheap cats, a dream come true.

| I, too, had a coupon for "buy one get one free," but Brat wouldn't
eat the stuff (beef). I guess it's back to Amore.

| I use Kal Kan, but bought Sheba after reading this note. I looked
at the ingredients and they seem to be practically the same. The
nutritional value lists about the same also. Though the cats ate
it, they weren't thrilled about it. It's not as moist as regular
Kal Kan, it comes out like a block and you have to chop it up.
I'll stick with the regular Kal Kan.

Dillan and Sammie would eat the stuff all day, every day if I could
afford it. In UK we can only buy it in small tubs (equivalent to
a third of a normal size tin) and it costs around 38 pence a tub.
The trouble is I have to be away from home sometimes and my boyfriend
cannot bear the smell of tinned stuff (it makes him very sick) so
I have to buy Sheba as its the only cat food he's ok with. The
boys think its a great compromise!!!

That's the way it's sold in at least this part of the U.S., too.
Once opened, the stuff has to be dumped out and then either mashed
or cut up.
Karamaneh runs hot and cold on it, so finally we just decided against
it. It's too expensive for a cat to decide to be finicky.

1230.13 | Hunger strike. | NSG022::POIRIER | I don't get over things I go through them. | Fri Apr 08 1988 16:44 | 9 |
| Well we tried Sheba this week - big mistake. Mandy showed us her
displeasure by covering it with her paws and going on a hunger strike.
So the next day we tried the other flavor that we bought thinking it
may have just been that flavor she didn't like. WRONG. This was worse
she picked it up in big chunks and placed it around the kitchen floor.
I guess this was a hint or something. Needless to say she was quite
happy when I opened a can of nine lives this morning. I don't think
she really ate much in two days - good way to put your cat on a
diet though.
