| If you're holding her by the scruff of her neck, you could be causing
pressure against the front of her throat and cutting of air or hurting
her a little. Push in against your own windpipe -- doesn't feel
very good.

| You may be pulling up on the scruff enough to cut off her air
supply and she may be choking - try putting your hand across
her chest and sort of putting pressure on that way - keeps
them sitting - or let her stand and put your hand on the
back of her neck and press gently or grab the two front
paws and hold them - two people bathing works real well
also.
The noise you hear may just be "angry noise" - try another
position to be sure.

| Bathing a cat? Never thought about that...
Anyway, mine makes these exact noises when I pick her up and she
doesn't want to be. I think it's angry noises.
I was worried at first too.
