| I have a top of the line Eureka canister with the "Vibra-Groomer II"
attachment for rugs. It really pulls up the cat hair that gets "woven"
into the carpet. Unfortunately, it will set you back almost $200.
I also have a Bisol Steam cleaner. It works real good but I find
it awkward to use. I use it mostly to clean up after "accidents"
and a couple of times a year just to do normal "steam cleaning".

| I'll also put in a vote for the Eureka vacuum with the rotating
brush for carpets. Mine isn't the top-of-the-line model, but
it really does a great job pulling up the fuzzballs (we have
two longhairs who love to wrestle, so there's ALWAYS fur on the
carpets). We got it about 3 years ago, and I remember it costing
about $140 on sale.

1164.3 | Sears 3.9 with double beater bar! | EDUCA8::TRACHMAN | | Mon Mar 07 1988 14:17 | 9 |
| I, with my 13 hairbags, vote for the Sears 3.9 hp, with the
double beater bar power head. Really works great! Just had
new burgandy carpeting installed in the new house and the
"family" loves to roll and scratch their hairy backs on it.
(NOTE: the color !) This vac, with one sweep sucks up all
the hair, not to mention the multitude of toys littering
the floor. It's my second Sears vac in 20 years!

1164.4 | Kirby does it best | MEMV04::BULLOCK | Flamenco--NOT flamingo!! | Mon Mar 07 1988 14:42 | 11 |
| I hate to say this, but the new Kirby I bought is the BEST for this.
There isn't a cathair that can stand up to it. Among its many virtues,
it has a little attachment (looks like a Norelco shaver) that WHIRLS
the catfuzz up and away! It also shampoos, carpet-beats, and other
things. It was expensive, but it's worth it to me--expecially my
lower back, since I don't have to bend over 3000 times while vacuuming
to yank out cathair from the rugs!
Good luck--the things we do for them...

1164.5 | Regina Electric Broom | NAC::LACOUR | | Mon Mar 07 1988 14:47 | 7 |
| My mom just bought a Regina Electric Broom (with 2 motors). She
was amazed at how much dirt (and cat hair) it picked up. However,
this has to be emptied after each use. She normally uses a built
in vacuum (including power brush) and this worked much better.

1164.7 | suggestion for help | DRFIX::IVES | | Tue Mar 08 1988 13:40 | 9 |
| I certainly have to agree the Sears 3.9 with double beater
bar. We have a Saint Bernard, (12yrs old), and a new rag
doll named Mocha. Needless to say we have plenty of hair
in our house. Previously we had 3 long hairs (cats) and
3 saints all at the same time.
We are on our 2nd vac in 18 years. The old one was a Sears too.
Anyone else out there have a rag doll?

| RE: .7, I thought that Ragdolls didn't shed too much. Maybe it
was just a myth that I heard. They are gorgeous, though.
