| I don't know what else to say, except that I felt a tug at my heart
when I read your entry. We all will have to deal with similar
heartbreaks at some time or another, so I feel a great deal of empathy
for you. Be comforted in the fact that while it is difficult to make
such a decision, it is, nonetheless, a very unselfish thing for you to ease
Cassie's misery. Her spirit will always go on with you.
I hope you can find the strength you need to get you through this
difficult time, for my thoughts will certainly be with you.

| My prayers and thoughts are with you, too. This is not easy, and
anyone who says "It's just a cat" has my vote for Mr./Ms. Insensitive.
Please stay in touch here; this is a wonderful file for all kinds
of good support and strength.
God gave us dominion over the animals, and I think He also wants
us to be aware that our animal friends don't have the lifetimes
we do, and to act accordingly. We love animals for many reasons,
and one reason is to keep on loving them by having more than one
in a lifetime. Each cat is special in its own way, and doesn't
come into our lives to "replace" a previous one.
I hope that when you are ready you will have room in your heart
for a new companion(s). Until then, best of luck to you and yours,
and our love to Cassie.

| It is never easy to make the decision to say good-bye to such a close
and long-term friend. I still cry from empathy and personal grief when
I read notes like this, and it's been 16 months since I had to make a
similar decision. We send you our warmest thoughts and encourage you
to think about all the good times, all the loving memories, and the
wonderful life you shared with your friend and companion. It takes
a lot of courage to do the unselfish thing to ease the pain and
suffering of your dear pet.
