What a great idea. I have a friend in a similar boat, who volunteers
at a local animal shelter for similar reasons. That takes nerves
of steel and the ability to refrain from belting people when they
    drop off animals, however.

Good luck on your idea. I know someone who has taken it one step
further. We have a friend who loves cats and can't have them where he lives
and actually housesits/kittysits for people who are going on vacation.
That way you know your house is safe and your kitties don't have
to be boarded. He finds it a special treat. He gets a change of
scenery and is paid for it to boot! Think about it.

This topic is already addressed in in note #400. There are
many people there offering their cat-sitting services.

Good luck! You might also want to consider offering your support to a
local animal shelter or humane society. You could give some love and
affection to some lonely kitties and get a lot of love and satisfaction
in return! I'm sure we can all do so much more to help out -- I'm
going to try to follow my own advice and volunteer some time!
