I would like to find a good home for a grey, 3-year old, female persian. She has been spayed and declawed in front. House pet only. Presently she is having a hard time with the kitten, 5-months old, that I originally got her for for company. I am of the belief that they are both loners. If there is anyone interested, please contact me at MILVAX::NICKERSON.

How long have you had the 2 together. You've got to give them some time to adjust.

There have been a couple of notes lately with good suggestions for getting cats used to each other. Maybe someone could find them and post a pointer? I do occasionally work rather than spend all my time in feline notes....

I am confused regarding your looking for a home for the cat you had originally. All cats bicker with newcomers. Cats work things out in their own way in establishing territiories etc. Cats are basically loners, that won't change but eliminating one from the area. I never met a cat in my life that wasn't put out by the presence of another on their territory. But, with patience, it can work out. But if you are really of a mind to let go your first cat, just remember that if you try to find a playmate for the kitten things won't be much different in them trying to get along with each other. I guess I would like to as you straight out - is it that you yourself feel that two cats are a handful?

I am also very confused. You have had the grey cat for three years and are now considering giving her away for the new kitten. I don't understand. You've had the older cat longer and yet are willing to part with her in lieu of the kitten which you just received. I also think that you should give them more time together or give the kitten away, not the cat. Sandi (who wouldn't part with Lightning or DejaVu for ANYONE OR ANYTHING) |
