1100.1 | another siamese mouser! | THE780::WILDE | Imagine all the people.. | Tue Feb 16 1988 17:51 | 10 |
| Tabitha, thirteen years old, declawed, catches them faster than anything!
She, however, does not EAT the mouse ("excuse me...did you say EAT this???")
she just "softens" it up real good. Then she brings her trophy to Marge (mom)
or me for proper cheering at her prowess (Marge is generally seriously
unimpressed by this great hunting feat - especially when Tabs brings it
to Marge's bed to be admired at 5:00 in the A.M.). I always praise
her and then remove the "booty" to a safe place for disposal. It is much
safer than poison and Tabs seems to really enjoy her hunting...but I'm glad
there is no suggestion of eating the things - I suspect her digestion
would not be too good!

| Reminds me of Pumpkin (orange tabby - 26 pounds) and ditto (b&w
- 4 pounds). We awoke one night to strange sounds, which turned
out to be those two and a cornered mouse. We caught it, and turned
it outside. But it was cold, and he (or a pal) got in again. Later
in the (then) morning, we again awoke to tiny screams and a really
indescribable crunching sound. When we woke enough to look around...
Let's just ask if you remember the old question about "what's worse
than finding a worm...?"
Sorry, I don't know what got into me.

1100.3 | !!!!A mouse in my house!!!! | ACTVAX::SCHWINDT | KDF;LAKSDJ | Wed Aug 03 1988 11:17 | 13 |

I just found a mouse in my house this morning. Dazdee and Whicket
chased it up to a corner of the bathroom and can't get to it (needless
to say I was NOT going near it - BLEAH!) The question I have is...
Are mice able to give my kitties some kind of disease? Chances
are that when I arrive home this evening, the mouse will be severed
in several places and scattered around, or eaten all up (UGH - the
thought of either is frightning) and I don't want the cats to suffer
because of my cowardice.

| If it's still there when you get home (alive, that is), try my tubular
mousetrap (mentioned elsewhere in here) and let it go outside.
Even mice belong - AND...they were here first!

1100.5 | one mouse probably won't hurt anything | SKITZD::WILDE | Time and Tide wait for Norman | Wed Aug 03 1988 14:30 | 6 |
| To answer the question referring to possible disease, etc.
Cats that regularly hunt their own food also regularly get worms and should
be wormed. I would check with your vet about this. However, one mouse
is hardly a regular infestion and I'd not panic just yet....he could be
clever enough to avoid getting caught, you know.

| Not to try to scare anyone, but rodents can carry rabies and other
diseases. However, if your cat is up to date on inoculations, I
don't think you have anything to worry about.
