| I believe I've heard this station doing other 'questionable'
animal type jokes. Maybe we could bombard them with the
wrath of the Digital community?

| I've got an appointment with the General Manager at 2:30. The woman
I spoke with wasn't aware of this morning's programming.
Unfortunately, I don't believe it proper to use DEC's name (no matter
how many people here agree with me) to advance my personal beliefs.
But!! Of course, I'll relay the G.M.'s reply....

| I think you are right - that we can't use DEC's name per se
BUT you can say that you received a substantial amount of
support in the belief that they displayed intolerable poor
taste and insensibility to their listeners feelings.
I would also believe that anyone from a humane group who happened
to be listening would also rise up shouting. I do.

| I just got through speaking with Steve, the General Manager of WZLX.
At first he stated that it couldn't have been on that station, as
he'd never heard of "Squeeze The Cat". When I gave him the details,
he went and checked with the program manager and returned to admit
that, indeed, at 7:00 this morning they did play "Squeeze The Cat"
with a listener.
He explained to me that this game was a PARODY of other call-in
games. I countered with "That was neither explained at the beginning
of the episode nor is it an excuse." I then went on to explain how
I could picture people imitating this parody by squeezing any avail-
able cat till it screamed.
The power of the E-net lives! During our conversation, I revealed
that there were quite a few people backing my position at my place
of employment. His first reaction? "Where do you work?" "I'd rather
not say, as I don't want my opinion construed as that of my employer."
But he does know that word gets around real quick...
Sad to say, I *didn't* get any assurance that the incident wouldn't
be repeated, but WZLX does know we're listening and we're not amused
by cruelty to animals.
I'd appreciate hearimg from anyone who may hear another episode
of this. In the meantime, I'm just chalking it up to a bit of
poor judgement and will continue to think that WZLX has the best
interests of animals at heart.

| Good for you! Isn't there an equivalent to our RSPCA in the States
who once alerted would monitor this radio station?
