Karen, Did you get rid out previous roommate because her boyfriend *marked* territory??? ;-) [I hope I remembered and this *was* your joke and not someone else's, gulp!]

What's this about quarantine? What does that consist of? Does it apply to cats going out of the US as well? What if you go out of the US and come back within say a month, do they need to be quarantined then?
1073.8 | England has the quarantine, not the U.S. | GLINKA::GREENE | Mon Feb 22 1988 13:04 | 15
I think there is a misunderstanding. England, being an island, has no rabies, and therefore a very strict 6 month quarantine period (during which you may, however, visit your pet). I suspect that Karen's English roommate was more concerned about a quarantine upon *returning* to England than upon arriving in the U.S. We (U.S.) do NOT have a long quarantine period, but do, of course, require proof of shots and health, etc. I understand that some other places, such as Hawaii and also Sweden (?) also have lengthy quaratine periods. Brian Williams recently imported a Siamese from England. Perhaps he has *the authoritative answer* to this! Penelope |
