856.1 | MAYBE THE CAT FOUND YOU??!!! | TPVAX2::ROBBINS | | Fri Oct 23 1987 14:37 | 25 |

Lucky you huh??? Well this is what I would do. If you can
keep the cat hold on to the scared little thing just in case you
do everything you can and still no owner claims it (there is a
chance of that unfortunately). Let's see call the local Police
Department for the Animal Control officer for your area and give
them a description of your new found buddy. Chances are the owners
may very well call the Police Department/Animal Control to see if
they have the cat. Check your local newspaper's lost and found
section and another good idea would be for you to take out an ad
in that section describing the cat. They do cost so I would think
a week would be sufficient for someone to see it. Just try and
think if you lost an animal where would be the places you would
call to try and find it? Those are the ones I can think of maybe
some other noters could think of some too? Most people would take
the animal to their nearest Animal Shelter and let them worry about
but whereas you could keep the cat ( and I think maybe you'd like
to?!?!) this way you could give the cat a good home with you and
in the meantime give all the info out and if they call you then
that's that but if they don't you have yourself a wonderful pet
that otherwise might have sat at a shelter unclaimed and/or unadopted
or if left out around the building even worse. Hope that helped
you a little. Keep us informed of the poor little kid's plight...

856.2 | Keep Kitten in Truck.. | LOOKUP::ICS | Gita Devi | Fri Oct 23 1987 14:39 | 9 |
| Don't let him/her roam the parking lot. I'd hate to think what
could happen around 4:30 or 5:00. I'd alert the receptionist in
your building and the other PK buildings. Post some notices in
the lobbies of all 4 PKO buildings (include the DCU building).
Take the kitten home, have fun, and wait to see if you get any
responses. If you do - then the kittie can go back home. If you
don't, then the kitten is already home - with you! In neither case
do either you or the kitten lose.

856.3 | What a cat! | FDCV01::NICOLAZZO | Free the beaches! | Fri Oct 23 1987 14:46 | 9 |
| Thanks! I just went out to check on him... I expected to see a
terrified little kitten with his face pressed against the truck
window... Nope, sound asleep on the seat! He is a cutie and I wouldn't
mind keeping him (of course, my current kitty may have a few
objections! :^)), but I do hope I can find the owner...
Thanks again, Time to make some phone calls...

| And is there atelephon epole or somesuch near where you found him
that you could post a found sign on? Some place where a notice
would be seen if his owner is searching the neighborhood for him?
(Sounds like a great little kitten.)

856.5 | Checked locals? | CIVIC::WINBERG | | Tue Oct 27 1987 16:14 | 2 |
| Have you checked your local Vet, Animal Control Police, and/or humane
society, newpapers, and DEC bulletin boards?

| re: .5
Yep. Left notices at PKO entrances and bulletin boards, called
Maynard police (Interesting conversation : me :'Is there an animal
control officer in Maynard?' Police :'Yes, but he doesn't take cats'
(?) me: 'I just want to report that I found one' Police: 'Why don't you
keep him?' me: 'Well, I will is I can't find the owner' Police:
'OK - I'll post it')
And I called the local animal hospital.
So far, no responses... Oh well, looks like I have a new Kitty!
:^) :^)
