850.0. "BENCHING AT CAT SHOWS" by FIDDLE::GERRY (Go ahead, make me PURRR...) Wed Oct 21 1987 12:07

What does everyone think of a "special benching request" for DECcies
exhibiting at the shows....That way we could all be together for
fun, help, and just plain keeping an eye on each others cats?

It is much more fun when we can all be benched together!!!!!

So from now on, when you enter a cat show, under benching instructions,
how about if we all put "WITH OTHER DEC EXHIBITORS"??? I have
been an entry clerk before and I think this would work and that
way we could all be together.

    What do you think???

    Ideas???

    Suggestions???

BTW, I used to belong to a club that did this and it was very efficient
for getting the club benched together.

Yes! I'd love to be benched with other DECcies. In fact, I
try to do it less formally, like asking to be benched with Cin.
And at one show, Bryan and I ended up right across the aisle from
    each other.

(Too bad that means I won't be benched next to the other Russian
Blues, however. They also tend to ask to be benched together!)

    I agree.

Elaine and I have been kicking this around ourselves as well. I
think it is a great idea. Do we need to tell the EC that there is
a group from DEC that wants to be together and they will identify
themselves, or do we explicitly say "I want to be next to Elaine,
    Penelope, Cin, etc."?

850.3Good idea but ...AQUA::GOLDMANMatt GoldmanWed Oct 21 1987 23:209
It would be best to specify people by names.

The entry clerk has alot of work to do. Think about it ... look at all the
special instructions s/he has to do for each exhibitor. Most likely, if you
specify "DEC" you'll end up with no special benching or a collect phone call
from the EC saying "huh?".

If you want, specify the names followed by "if entered" to eliminate having to
know the exact shows everyone is going to.
