| | My neighbor had a 5-month kitten and she just adopted an 8-week
kitten. The 2 of them went through much the same thing as your
2 are doing now. Pebbles (the older one) wouldn't leave Bam-Bam
(the new addition) along for a minute. She would swat at Bam-Bam
whenever he went to eat or use "her" litter or drink "her" water.
This only lasted for about 2 days. Now they're getting along just
great. In fact, Bam-Bam is the one who starts the playing!

    	Re : .3 Thanks Edd!!

Well, me and my guys are getting off to a great beginning.
The two kittens are in love with each other. After about
3 days they started sleeping on top of each other, it was
so cute. Bandit is getting a new name by the way. He looks
like the little guy from the movie Gremins, Mog-gwuy (does
any body know how to spell it?) so we have started to call
him that in addition to Bandit. We will have to settle on
one of the two names soon I guess but we are leaning towards
    	Mog-gwuy.

Tomorrow we go to the vets to make sure Mog-gwuy is a guy,
I certainly hope he is. He looks like one anyhow but who
    	am I to say?

Two more weeks till moving day. I am certainly having a hard
time keeping them hidden. T.K. has figured out how to get
past the screening I set up and into the window sill. He pulled
out the corner of the screen and encouraged Mog-gwuy to get
in the window too. I was a bit put out to arrive home and see
two kittens sitting in my window. But when I got in the door
only Mog-gwuy was still there because he couldn't figure how
to get back out!! And T.K. probably thinks he fooled me!!

Feeding time is fun too. T.K. used to just sit and wait patiently
until dinner was put down but now I can't even go into the kitchen
without the two of them setting up a stink about dinner. They
even do this 5 minutes after I feed them. Now I have a very
small kitchen and it is just too crowded for all of us. Plus
T.K. keeps trying to jump onto the counter. They really keep
me busy. And when the food is down on the floor for them I
can't turn my back for a second because T.K. likes Mog-gwuys
food better that his. He even growls at the little guy to get
    	him to move.

Well, enough about my two guys.

If anyone knows how to spell Mog-gwuy name right please let
    	me know.

    	Thanks,

    	Karen

    Hi Karen,

In Holland subtitles are often quite accurate in spelling for names,
so I can suggest Mogwai is correct.

Please do not feed after midnight and *never ever* make him WET!

| | I like "Little One" cause that's what I call Chauncey and "Bunny"
cause that's what I call Honey!

I've heard that it takes a month before they realize they have a
name and they respond to it. It took Chauncey much longer than
that! What sounds best with "GET DOWN!" and "NO!"?? I think Chauncey
thinks his name is "CHAUNCEY, NO!". My guys have a "call name"
and a "scream name". Honey knows when he hears "HAMILTON BATES
    FARNSWORTH!" he's in deep sneakers!

A friend of mine named her new kitten "Jeffrey" after the Bill Cosby
bit on little 4-year-old Jeffrey. Jeffreygetdown, Jeffreystopthat,
    JeffreyJeffreyJeffrey...

Pick something that sounds good loud!

    (Re: .9, .10):
I believe I have read (possibly in this conference) that it's
a good idea not to use the cat's name when you're scolding him.
I think this is on the grounds that the cat should associate
his name with being praised / hugged, etc. Conversely he will
associate "NO!!!" or "DOWN!" with being told off. Thus it becomes
easier for him to differentiate praise from criticism, and hence
easier for you to administer the latter.
