Well, I've had my kitten for about a month so far but
I haven't formally introduced him yet so here goes.
I got T.K. Bailey (That Kat Bailey) about a month ago.
He is a grey striped male with huge ears. My mother is
convinced that he is part Bob-Cat. I adopted him from
the Bulger Animal Hospital in Andover MA. I picked him
up on a Saturday, brought him home and let him out of the
carrier. He was so funny! He walked around for about
2 hours on the carpet kneading his paws into the rug
and purring very loudly while looking at me with such
a grateful expression on his face. He was soooo happy!!
I guess since he lived in a cage until I got him he had
never walked on anything soft before.
The first night we had him I let him sleep in my room.
I think he decided he was a hat!! He got onto my pillow,
lay down, then buried his paws in my hair, rested his head
on top of mine and purred. Have you ever tried to sleep
with a motor on your head!! And everytime I moved he
would decide that I wanted to play and I would get a head
full of tiny claws and sharp little teeth!! Needless to
say, I don't let him sleep in my room anymore because if
he isn't sleeping on my head he is busy attacking the
vicious alien (in the form of legs and feet) moving beneath
the covers!!
T.K.'s favorite toy is a beer cap. I was a little worried
that he might cut himself at first but he hasn't so I
let him play with them. He carries them around in his
mouth and loves to play with them on hard floors because
they make more noise. I strung one beer cap and hung it
from a door know and he LOVES it. He plays for hours,
batting at it. Unfortunately he makes so much noise at
this that we have to put the toy away at night. I am
constantly finding his beer caps in his dinner dish or
in his water dish. I don't know why he puts them there (can
somebody explain this). The other day I had a glass of
water on the coffee table and he got on the table and
deposited a beer cap in my glass. Thanks T.K.!! Well, I
fished it out and threw it on the floor since he failed
at fishing it out himself. About a minute later he was
back on the table and dropped the cap in the glass again!!
I must say this little kitten drives me crazy at times. He
is constantly playing and he has to play right where he can
get in the way. He loves to make noise and knock things
off tables. He is a very naughty kitten because he gets
in soooo much trouble.
Last night while I was asleep he redecorated my apartment.
He knocked all of the magazines off of the table along with
a full ashtray. He also kindly removed some of the weeds from
one of my dried flower arangements and placed these weeks in
strategic locations in the living room. And my spider plant
is a little bit flatter today too. And as a final touch he
spread toilet paper throughout the apartment. But how can
you punish him when he walks up to you purring as you get up
in the morning and lets you cuddle him for a full 5 minutes.
I'm only allowed to hold him for 10 minutes a day because the
rest of the time he is playing. The other 5 minutes is right
when I get home from work.
Well, I could go on about T.K. forever but I won't I should
probably end it right here.

Sounds like you've got quite a pal there!!
But rest assured, he'll quiet down, they usually seem to. Soon
he'll leave the decorating to you, and stop reading the magazines.
He'll even soon be sleeping with you, QUIETLY. Cats are so great
sleep with when they're all warm and soft and purry.
I think all kitties need time to explore everything you have
in THEIR home, but they all simmer down after a bit.
He'll provide you with love for many years to come.

Hi Denise,
I certainly hope he simmers down. I like him best right now
when he is exhausted because then he will sleep anywhere.
I got home last night and my roomate was rather upset. When
I walked in the door she was lying on the couch with T.K. on
her chest. She said that earlier she was crying and T.K. was
licking away the tears. Isn't that sweet?? Although T.K.
has a fixation with eyes and constantly tries to nibble on
our eyelashes or poke a paw into an eye. He just stares at
you for a couple of minutes and then a paw slowly reaches out
towards an eye or his little mouth starts to approach. He
was probably just investigating this new phenomenon of human
tears. And I'll bet they tasted pretty good too!!

Re.2
T.K. sounds like our new kitten, Fred, a ginger and white terrorball!
Fred too has got a fixation for eyes and lashes - suddenly taking
a carefully aimed swipe when he thinks I'm not looking. Trouble
is, his aim is rather good and there have been one or two near misses
This is OK when I'm wide awake, but the trouble starts when the
sneaky blighter sits on my chest at night and starts nibbling my
face then. Its not very nice waking up to find two large eyes peering
at you and his soft breath blowing on your face. Scare the hell
out of me!!

Re.: .2
Once Witch decides I am showing signs of wakening, she climbs onto
my chest (if she's not already there) and watches my face very closely
for signs of life. If she detects the slightest eyelid movement,
she licks the tip of my nose to see if she can coax me awake. She
either wants to be petted or fed. On weekends, she's usually perched
somewhere on me by 6:30 (Witch and I are normally early risers).

Licking the eyelids I can handle. Mitzi (now deceased :-() used
to climb onto my neck, insert her bottom teeth into my nostrils
and CHOMP! OUCH! That also worked, but I wasn't really pleased
with it. She was smart enough to run away before I knew what hit
me, so it was *really* hard to punish her for it. But jeesh, I
loved her for her intelligence, even after she learned to turn off
my alarm clock in the middle of the night! (That went over well
with my boss...why am I late? Uh, my cat turned off my alarm clock.
Right. Sure. :-))

Rita,
One of our cats, Bubba, loved to climb to anything warm and high.
The cable remote box was a natural. Always a joy to have small paws
making your viewing choices. She was also very good at changing
the alarm settings since they were buttons. Made for surprizing
wake-ups

Re: .7
Einsteen is a cable-box sitter. I think I give him more credit
for brains than he deserves, but I think he knows what he is doing.
His favorite game seems to be duelling channels. He changes the
chanel and I hit the remote control to recover. I finally figured
out that the AUthorize button stops him from changing my channels.
