765.0. "Grants available ?" by CSMADM::DALEY () Fri Sep 11 1987 15:46

I have volunteered to go off and seek available grant money for
our non-profit, all-volunteer, humane society as we are getting
low on funds. While the vet has been donating her time, and the
medications are at cost, we still have to pay for shelter
rental space as well as kitty litter and other essentials.

I was told that there was a "book in Boston telling about
grants". That was ** ALL** I was told. The person did not
know where the "book" was found, although I would guess it
is at the Boston Public Library, nor its title. Probably the
librarian would know, but I was wondering if anyone else
has researched "grant money." Any suggestions would be
    very appreciated.

What about having a bake sale/flea market? Local merchants would
probably let you put up posters in their windows, and some might
    donate goods to be sold.

I have seen a certain organization in the Nashua, N.H. area that
advertises in the paper. They advertise for people that should
have their pets fixed if they need financial help they will pay.
I would think they might operate off some sort of grant so I'll
try to find the name and number and maybe they could point you
    in the right direction.

Where is this shelter located out of personal interest? I wish
there was a way to have one around here as I know many people
aren't thrilled with the one we do have........
