I have lots of coupons for cat food that I cut out every week from the Sunday paper. I was wondering whether Animal Shelters would take these. Do they accept coupons? Does anyone know of a shelter where I can send these coupons or does anyone work at DEC that also works at a shelter. Maybe that way I could mail the coupons interoffice. Thanks for any info Karen

I'm affiliated with the Nashua Humane Society, and know they'd be glad to receive coupons. They should be sent to 24 Ferry Rd., Nashua, N.H. 03060.

In the Boston Globe's Confidential Chat section last week. "Dear Chatters: If you have extra coupons for cat or dog food, or if you don't use them at all, may I suggest a good use for them? The Bosler Humane Society in Barre, Mass., is the largest no-kill shelter in New England, and they accept coupons for dog and cat foods as well as for trash bags, paper towels, and rebate blanks. If you use Gaines dog food and send the starred price areas from the packages, the company will pay the shelter cash for them. On cans of dog food, only the entire UPC code markers are acceptable. The animals can't ask for help themselves, and this seems like little enough to do for them. The address is: BOSLER HUMANE SOCIETY, P.O.BOX 520, BARRE, MA 01005. - A Whole New ME"
