665.0. "Cat behavior and mothers-to-be..." by HPSCAD::QBARRY (Jeff Barry, 297-6756. Scan ATPG guru, EMACS abuser, caver.) Wed Jul 15 1987 14:11

Ever since my wife became pregnant, our female cat, who is normally VERY
aloof, has become friendly to my wife to the point of being obnoxious.
We've noticed no obvious behavior changes in our male cats. My wife and I
speculate that it has something to do with her changed odor. I always make
some joke about `pheromones' given the cat's seemingly amorous behavior.

Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Funny you should mention this, as it did happen to me, and I
was amazed. When I first became pregnant, Mohammad, our 4
year old cat, couldn't stay off of me, and slept right next
to my stomach, or sat on my lap at every opportunity. At
4-1/2 months pregnant, I suffered a miscarriage, and now he
wants nothing to do with me again. He looks at me and talks
away, but no amount of encouragement causes him to jump up
and "sit a spell". Funny how they can sense things, isn't it?
