I'm heartbroken, but... My two feline friends, Samantha and Cleopatra ("Sam" and "Cleo") need a new home. Since our home was split up, neither my ex or I have the space or time to give them the love and attention they deserve. Sam and Cleo are 2 1/2 year old females, grey tigers, spayed and declawed indoor kitties. Never separated, they are close pals and I'd hate to break them apart. They've been accustom to having the run of a reasonably large house. Please, if you or someone you know can give my friends a loving, caring home contact me. I've found a potential home for one of my cats. While I'd hoped to place them together, if someone has the heart and room for one of my kitty's please contact me.

Since there has been little interest from this and other ads, and my cats need to be moved today, perhaps someone can give me some useful advice on where I can put my two cats. Are there alternatives to the local animal shelter?

Steve, I'm sorry that you haven't been able to place your cats. If you are anywhere near Salem, MA or are willing to drive a bit, the Northeast Animal Shelter in Salem would be a good place to try. I adopted a kitten from this shelter about three years ago, and the people there were very careful about placing him. We had to fill out an application and show that we were able to care for the kitten. They also did follow-up calls for quite a few months after we adopted Sammy. They do not put the animals to sleep, therefore at times there is a waiting list. Their address and phone number follow: Northeast Animal Shelter 204 Highland Avenue Salem, MA 617-745-9888 You could also try calling the Animal Rescue League in Boston at 617-426-9170; they might know of private individuals that take in animals. Good luck. Carole |
