| Thanks for the information!
I knew about it from the MEDICAL notesfile, but I never
saw her mention it in FELINE.
I'd like to send her some cards to cheer her up during her
lengthy recovery -- can you either mail me her address or
post it (with her permission, of course) for other noters
to use?
Are you going to smuggle any cats into the hospital to visit her?
:-)

| Unfortunately, I can relate to what Jo Ann must be going thru. My brother
went thru this same procedure a few years ago and, as was mentioned in
the base note, it is quite painful.
I feel for you right now, Jo Ann, and I wish you a speedy recovery.

| Here is Jo Ann's address for all who are interested (printed with
her permission).
Jo Ann Cordes Brown
15318 Calle Enrique
Morgan Hill, CA 95037
There was quite a bit of excitement in her room today as today was
the day she got to sit up and dangle her legs over the edge of the
bed. She gets to do this amazing feat again this afternoon. Tomorrow
she gets to "ambulate"...we think this means she gets to walk.
According to her, sitting and dangling was hard enough.
As for smuggling, so far we've managed to sneak in a personal pizza
and some bon bon type ice cream. The cat is going to be a little
tougher, especially since she's in heat.

601.4 | Update on Jo Ann | SCRUZ::CORDES_JA | Jan | Fri Jun 26 1987 16:58 | 13 |
| Update:
Jo Ann is spending alot of time hanging around the house by herself.
She is improving steadily. She's totally bored because we can't
get the PRO and modem to talk to each other (lover's quarrel or
something). Don't know what we're going to do to get her back
in notes before she comes back to work.
She started swim therapy this week and loves it. Hopefully this
will make recovery easier and faster.

601.5 | an update on myself | PUZZLE::CORDESJA | | Tue Jul 28 1987 17:30 | 13 |
| Hi everybody,
I am doing fine these days except for the unending boredom. Swim
therapy is my only escape. Got a gorgeous tan going tho...teehee.
I stopped by the office on my way back from SF airport. Going up
there to pick up my new Birman, tentatively named "Sacrechat's
Kyrielle of MySinhs". Anyway, we drove all the way up there (90
miles from home) and found out that the cat is coming in TONIGHT
at 11:30!!! Has this ever happened to you?? I hate it when that
happens...
See you all again soon,
Jo Ann

| Just thought I'd toss in a brief note to let everyone know that
Jo Ann is doing fine. Word is she'll be back in the office the
first week of December. Doctor says she can't come back to work
until she is walking without crutches. He still hasn't allowed
her to put any weight on her leg.
Her cat Joui is "in the family way" and is expected to deliver 3
days before Jo Ann and Ken move into the house they just bought.
Kyrielle was in her first show last weekend and took 2 Best of Breed
ribbons. Seems to me Jo Ann mentioned a rosette too but it escapes
me now.
They have 7 cats now including a new household pet named Chantilly
Lace. This is the kitten they tried to give to me and when I decided
I wanted her they decided they did too.
Anyway, I guess that's enough update on Jo Ann. We've both been
out of touch with this file lately. She never did get the PRO to
work right. I've been too busy. I showed my cats for the first
time since summer started last week and we bombed. Seems Bailey
and Amelia have a weight problem. I spent the entire show listening
to "fat cat" jokes from everyone. One lady (spectator) went so
far as to say Amelia looks pregnant. We're planning on changing
her last name from Earhart to Bartlett (as in pear). Well enough
of that, I've installed a kitty nautilus center in my home and hope
to have them back in winning shape before the big household pet
show in December.
Jan (who's spending alot of time exercising the cats)
P.S. You haven't lived till you've seen Amelia do sit-ups.

601.7 | Another update | CLUSTA::TAMIR | To a cat, all things belong to cats | Fri Dec 18 1987 10:30 | 14 |
| Here's another update on JoAnn...I talked with JoAnn for over an
hour yesterday, and she's doing terrific. She's not back to work
yet, as she's just begun to do weight-bearing on her hip. She's
going thru an intensive physical therapy program, and hopes to be
back to work in a month or so.
There's lots of news on the kitty front...Joui is off to become
"with child" again, Kyrielle is doing very well on the show circuit
and there's a new little boy who was just joined the family. JoAnn
asked me to say "HI!!" to all of you and to thank you for all the
cards and letters she's received over the past several months.
Hopefully, she'll be back at work and back "on-line" soon!

| Another quick update. The doctor/therapist keeps extending the amount
of time Jo Ann is supposed to be away from work. Now it looks like
she won't be back till April (she'll have been out 1 year as of
the end of May).
Joui has had her first litter of kittens. Five adorable little
fur faces. Jo Ann was told there were three, maybe four. What
a surprise to get five. They're so cute and very hard to resist
taking home each time I visit.
Well, now that I've updated everyone, I've got to get back to reading
the 2200 notes I'm behind on.

| Does anyone remember Jo Ann? Seems like she's been gone for years.
Actually, it has almost been 1 year.
Well, beginning Monday, May 9th Jo Ann will be back at work on a
part time basis. We don't know what she'll be doing as a job yet
or if she'll be able to get back in to notes right away but we'll
get her logged in and reading notes ASAP, after all, she only has
8128 notes to catch up on from the past year.

| She never left the bed making business. Just slowed down a little.
I'm sure that she'd be able to make kitty beds for anyone who still
wants one. She did mention that the cost of materials in her area
has increased though so they may go up a buck or two.
Actually, I should have let her answer this as today was her 1st
day back on a part-time basis but she has 8288 notes to catch up
with and only 4 hours/day to do it in between all her real duties.

per hour, times five 4-hour workdays, divided by the number of work
hours....oops! I just ran out of process space! Welcome back,
Jo! At the rate we add notes (not figured in the above calculations),
you'll catch up by year's end!

| Will the real Jo Ann please put in a note! It's me...., I have
about 30 seconds til the phone rings again. Quick update, I missed
all of you guys. If it wasn't for Mary Tamir and her hour (s) long
phone conversations to keep me informed- I would have gone nuts!
Kyrielle has 62 grand points in just a few shows, Kalliste (my gorgeous
new boy) needs two winners ribbons (and he thinks he needs Joui
too!) and Joui (who thinks she needs Kalliste) just weaned her first
litter (let them babies nurse til they were 12 weeks old!) Two
show babies in the litter.... Watch for Mysinhs Lyscentia and Mysinhs
Lysander (sold to a breeder in Virginia) to hit the show scene.
Bye, Jo Ann

Is that CFF or CFA? I didn't know you when you were in the notes
file before, but welcome back. What kind of cats do you have?

601.17 | Glad to be back | WRO8A::CORDESJA | | Wed May 11 1988 16:24 | 14 |
| I show mostly in CFA. There are not alot of CFF shows here in
California and since the new Birman standard actually passed in
TICA I probably won't be showing much in that association anymore.
I have Birmans. According to the new TICA standard, I have to start
breeding them with nose breaks and whisker pinches (yech!!!) if
I want to show in their association. I think we are in for some
very interesting looking Birmans. They have also accepted Birmans
in every color combination known to man. I am a little more
traditional than that. I think that we should perfect the colors
we have before we branch out into new ones. When was the last time
any of you saw a chocolate or lilac point Birman at a show?
Jo Ann
