559.0. "Anyone have Cat Fancy subscription address/phone info?" by QBUS::MITCHAM (Andy M.) Fri Apr 24 1987 19:13

Does someone have the address/phone for Cat Fancy Magazine? I sent a check
for subscription 2 months ago and have yet to receive some acknowlegement
(aside from a cancelled check). Perhaps I haven't waited long enough?
It was written/sent 27-February.

thanx,

-Andy

    Well, when I first subscribed it took about 10 weeks before it started
    and then I got 3 issues in the mail within a day of each other.

    The same thing happened to me. I wrote to them telling them I did
    not want the old issues. They adjusted my subscription so I received
    a full year of NEW issues.

    Must be a bad habit they've picked up...

    Same thing happened to a gift subscription for my mother-in-law.
    It took about 3 to 3 1/2 months before she starting getting the
    magazines. Once they started coming, though, they were definately
    worth it -- best gift we ever gave her!

559.4cSQM::MURPHYIs it Friday yet?Mon Apr 27 1987 17:4026
    Well, I see they are still at it. Back in 1985 I had subscribed
    to their magazine - for one year's subscription for myself and a
    "gift' subscription for my Brother and his wife (also cat fanciers).
    My Brother received his subscriptions (late). The subscriptions
    were due to arrive to both of us the first of 1986. I only received
    the first two month's subscriptions and then nothing.

    I wrote them numerous times to both their main office in Mission
    Viejo, CA, as well as their Boulder, Colorado office. Received
    no replies to my letters. I made long distance phone calls to their
    California office and was informed that everything would be cleared
    up and I should receive my back issues soon.

    In August, 1986 I wrote to the office of the Attorney General in
    Sacramento, CA to ask his help in this matter. I also wrote to
    Cat Fancy again and informed them I was notifying the Attorney General.
    Since I had not received any responses to my letters or phone calls,
    I requested a refund for my subscription.

    As much as I would have liked to receive this magazine (the 3 issues
    I did receive were very interesting), I found it very difficult
    to have any further dealings with a company that treated it's customers
    in this way.

    Good luck!

    Yes, I finally (with the threat of the Attorney General) got my
    refund back along with "3" back issues that I never received.

559.6Maybe they need a VAX!GALWAY::SMARTINMon Apr 27 1987 17:4910
    They must need some better organization.
    I sent them an old subscription card (was from an 84 or early 85
    copy of the magazine) and it had an old price. I can't remember
    if they just gave me the magizine for the cheaper price and wrote
    me a not complaining about it, or I had to send them the difference.
    Anyway I think it was pretty prompt in coming. I first subscribed
    in the spring of 1986.
    I would have to look into the magazine for phone numbers/addresses.
    Good luck.

559.7Guess I'll wait a little longer...QBUS::MITCHAMIt's Spring...Time to PollinateTue Apr 28 1987 19:497
Well, at least I know I'm not the only one who's had this response. I'll
sit on it a little longer. Thanks for the replies. But, I would still be
interested in an address and/or phone number if anyone has it.

thanx again,

-Andy

559.9Didn't have to wait after all...QBUS::MITCHAMIt's Spring...Time to PollinateWed Apr 29 1987 00:2818
Wrote too soon. Came home this evening and this month's issue had arrived
(much to my wife's glee!).

Thanks for the posted addresses. But I should note, also, that there is a
minor difference in the posted address for Cat Fancy and that which I show
on the subscription circular card attached within the magazine. It reads:

	Cat Fancy
	Subscription Dept.
	P.O. Box 52864
	Boulder, Colorado 80321-2864

Don't know the reason for the difference. Hopefully, either one will get
to the proper department (for those who use this as future reference).

thanx again...

559.10a good experienceMURPHY::GLADDINGWed Apr 29 1987 12:1810
    I actually had a GOOD experience with them. I had subscribed to
    Cat Fancy sometime last October and started receiving them around
    December. My sister, thinking it was a great idea, sent in a
    gift subscription, not knowing I already was receiving it.

    I had nightmares about double mags coming in, sending endless
    letters, making endless phone calls to try and straighten it out.
    But, much to my surprise and delight, I noticed on my last issue
    that they added another year onto my subscription, even without
    my having to ask.
