My wife and I got a flame-point Himalayan at the Sterling Animal
Shelter. I was surprised to find out that siamese and other pure
breads would be there. Apparently, people get stuck in appartments
that don't allow cats and they have to give them up.

Usually, the pounds don't have pure bread kittens, but if a 1 yr
old cat will do, then you should give it a try.

Don't be afraid to call a pound and ask for a specific kind of cat.
They will suggest that you take a cat anyway, even if its not the
one you were looking for. But don't worry about saying no. You've
got to have the kind of cat you like if you expect to keep it for
life (for the average person anyway, my wife and I have taken in
    all sorts of cats).

The cats at the pound could have matts in their fur if they were
there for a long time. Ours did, but when it was cleaned up, the
cat became a beautiful, friendly cat.

You can also check the newspapers. It might take a long time to
find an ad for the exact cat your looking for though.

You can also look for cat shows. You can look at the cats there
and get business cards from the catteries in the area.

    Good luck, Bill
