| I just bought it at the bookstore at lunchtime.
I noticed an advertisement for Barnes&Noble
had the book on sale for $2.95. I'm anxious to start
reading it!

| I read nthis over the weekend.
Good point: It doesn't try to anthromorphize the cats.
Bad point: It veers into strange fantasy, and some of the feline
behavior seems somewhat at variation with their observede
behavior in real life.
It helps if you've read a little Lovecraft, especially "The Cats
of Ulthar," and _Dream-Quest of Unknown Kadath_ or a Chulthulu story
to get the import of what the strange "underground" being was conjured
up near the climax of the story; however, it isn't necessary.
My grade, B+.

This isn't about "tailchaser" but another excellent feline book.
It's called "Bobcat Year" and unfortunately I can't remember the
author's name right now. (It was a woman.) I learned a lot of
valuable information about feline behavior that helped me under-
stand the domesticated variety on another level. It's one of those
books you can't put down once you start it.

Re "Tailchaser's Song", I couldn't get into the book even though
I love cats. I also loved "Watership Down" and only think rabbits
are kinda cute, so don't know what that means. BUT, the free poster
I got with the book is *really* CUTE - at Lauriat's at Shopper's
World.

Having read Tailchaser's Song not so long ago, I wondered if there
would be a topic in the conference about it. Found it after all
(Thanks, AVN) but feel a bit disappointed there's not so much
reaction on it.
I really enjoyed the book (I've read Watership Down a long time ago,
but that really is differing). I guess I liked it so much because
I love cats, but also enjoy SF & fantasy.
Still love to think Prince Nine-birds (correct? translating from
Dutch!) is my ancestor....I loved that story!
Differing tastes?

| I also found Tailchaser's Song a quite enjoyable book. I thought
the characters were developed quite well and the story was very
interesting. I also loved the names. Eatbugs comes to mind right
off the top of my head:-).

| Another who enjoyed it. (I'm suprised I hadn't said so
before.) I could just see some of those cats from their names
alone! And also the poses that they probably would have struck
at times (I guess all cats have some of each of them present). I
would reccomend it to anyone who likes cats and at all into
fantasy.

| It was all so quiet about this that I first thought the topic wasn't
brought up yet. I considered trying to translate the opening poem
into English and post it, but that sure would have some strange
side-effects.
Re.-a few. Eatbugs is called Eatlice in Dutch. But all the names
are beautiful indeed. Most of all I like the "cat-legends" or
"songs"(!).
