316.0. "Wanted: Burmese Kitten" by NAAD::ROMAN () Tue Aug 26 1986 16:55

I'm interested in finding out some information about Burmese kittens.
Where to find breeders, (in the Eastern Mass area), temperment,
reasonable price for a pet quality kitten, etc... Any information
    would be appreciated !!!!

    Thanks, L.

I'm afraid I can't help re breeder and price, as I'm in the wrong
hemisphere ($100 is fairly avaerage here btw, remembering that our
$ is only worth half of yours, but our ave. wage is only c.$370/week).
    But as for temperament...

Burmese are INCREDIBLY affectionate towards people... they love
humans with a single-minded devotion. They are cuddly, playful,
funny (they don't mind being laughed at, unlike most cats), and
quite intelligent. They are inclined to be a bit aggressive towards
other cats, though. They are very adaptable, and often keen hunters.
They are definitely NOT highly-strung. They have a voice somewhere
between a door closing and a crow croaking (though our Sura sometimes
squeeks, just for variety). They tend to have large litters, are
very robust, and tend to live a long time.

Highly recommended, but if you already have cats bear in mind that
a Burmese will very likely be aggressive to the others at first -
Sura got over this very quickly though.
